Sticky velcro is ... too effective?
Anonymous 03.05.2016
The Thomann Pedal board tape is a really strong adhesive strip - like, seriously strong. I would say that it's so strong it seems to negate the point of having a removable tape in the first place.

I have secured five pedals onto my board (with typically one pair of velcro strips per pedal) and have enough left for another three or four, so there's definitely enough in there for the average joe.

However, the main issue comes with application of the tape: once you remove the backing material (very easy) then the sticky side of the tape is revealed and you can attach it to your pedal or your pedalboard: it's very strong, but as you'll come to see - possibly not enough.

The fabric of the velcro is double-action: there's no male/female sides, and it all connects to everything else. You must press quite firmly to engage the gripping claws and you can feel it latch together with a very reassuring depression.

Once latched in the pedals are VERY securely fastened - so removing them once they're in place isn't very easy, especially if you're trying to juggle barrel-connectors or patch leads at the same time.

I've found also that the velcro fastening is MORE sturdy than the adhesive glue on the backing, so more than once I've attempted to remove a pedal only for the tape to come off of the back of the pedal itself (one time, it even pulled the rubber footing off a behringer pedal I had!)

I would say that this is a good product to keep everything in place, I was able to chuck my pedalboard around, carry it upside down with one hand to, and from my car without even a slight movement of any of the pedals.

Just don't thing you're going to be constantly rearranging them!

Too strong for its own good (don't stick to MDF or ply)
WillO 04.12.2015
I used this to attach pedals to a homemade pedal board.

As an alternate to velcro, it's a nice idea, but it grips to itself far too strongly, making it difficult to remove pedals. If you're using C or Z connectors between your pedals, you might actually break the pedal or the connector, as the grip is crazy strong. Works great if you're using patch cables, though.

The glue on the tape is very, very strong. In fact, it's stronger than the MDF I glued it to. As I mentioned, the tape grips to itself like crazy. This grip is much stronger than the MDF on my pedal board, so any time I've tried to take a pedal off the board, I've actually torn off the MDF the tape is stuck to. Using MDF was my own fault.

If you've a metal or laminated pedal board and you're using patch cables (as opposed to inflexible Z or C connectors), this is probably exactly what you need.

If you regularily remove pedals from your board, maybe go for hook and loop tape.

I bought this and the rockbag velcro for my pedalboard. After comparing I prefered the rockbag velcro.

Ok, but too narrow
DHaych 01.08.2014
Think this velcro is too narrow, the other normal velcro seems to fit the base of a pedal perfectly but you'd need 2 strips of this. Also the sticky side isn't too sticky....

p
hold too strong
playingear 26.02.2019
it has been said by many. it just holds on too strongly - but i found an use for this very reason, other that holding my pedals on the pedalboard. it now helps hold a Midibox underneath the pedalboard - the grip is so firm, the light Midibox, even though against gravity, has not dropped.

can not recommend for pedals on pedalboard unless you plan on never or hardly never removing /replacing then. otherwise, they can be useful in other ways

Real strong...too strong
TheRemy 10.04.2019
Use it on my pedalbaord. The grip is very strong, I can handle my board however I want, the pedals won't fall off.
Downside: when time comes to move pedals around, they are just too strong. I had to use a screwdriver as a lever to pull my Line 6 DL4 out.

VERY sticky - maybe toomuch
Kerr M. 23.06.2015
This will hold the pedals in any condition. Shake it, bang it, no way they are moving.
Unfortunately I need to change some positions and found it really tricky getting the pedals off the board and in some cases the tape ripped off before the Velcro released.
finally I found a twisting action far better to keep the tape in place on both the board and pedal.
Also watch the stickers on the bottom of the pedals The two behringer pedals came off as the stickers are not really that sticky. NOT a fault of this product.

Overall really sticky but be careful when you pull the pedals off.

Review Thomann Pedal Board Tape
Andrew822 06.06.2013
Heavy duty pedal board velcro style tape, good product but I actually found it a bit hard compared to the standard velcro, still worked okay and does the job but I do prefer the softer stuff it seemed easier to use.
