I purchased this Piccolo a few years back as I was just starting my piccolo journey. I had been playing the flute for over 10 years, but only recently did my orchestra start incorporating pieces that required piccolo.
The Thomann piccolo is surprisingly high quality for the low price, though notably metallic in sound (partially due to the metal head joint). The third register is hard to play at times and I spent quite a while practicing to play cleanly with it, as to why I gave it a 3 star rating for the response. It definitely helped me improve my attention to intonation as it needed a lot of adjustments with alternate fingerings.
In general, my rating is based not only on the general quality but also based on the fact that it is extremely cheap.
It is definitely a great beginner piccolo, helps you learn a lot of alternate piccolo fingering and get familiar with the instrument. I would also recommend it to anybody who does not want to take their more expensive wooden instrument outside. While I have now moved on to a different piccolo for concerts, the Thomann stays my trusty companion when outside with the marching band and on weeks where my new piccolo is getting serviced.
