I'm very pleased with my purchase. My 6-year-old wanted something else than a recorder, and we've been super happy with her first fife. Fife is not the easiest instrument for a child to play, but if your child is willing to practice and does not give up easily, I warmly recommend getting started with a fife. The Thomann fife has an excellent price/quality ratio. This has to be the most affordable real musical instrument I've come across, yet it produces very satisfactory sound and does not have any detectable faults in the design or the finish. The only setback is that the instrument is in one piece, which makes it somewhat more difficult to clean properly.

A very usable flute to learn and take with you, anywhere. Yes, and its finish, not really glossy, doesn’t let that plastic sensation. It does the job and is a tool for group practices. In the Brazilian case, fife and drums variations inside local Northeastern forms.
