Cheaper alternative, lighter, solid, but the snap locks are a litt
bazbishop 26.11.2019
The ECO versions of the Thon racks/cases use plastic instead of plywood/laminate, but they are still strong and rigid. This material also has the advantage that the whole case is noticeably lighter, which is nice when you have filled it up with heavy gear. The edges and corners are metal and the two 'doors' fit onto the body firmly and securely.

The snap-locks are clearly a cheaper alternative to the butterfly clasps and work fine, but they are slightly annoying when handling the case without the doors as they tend to flap around and get in the way, especially when standing the case vertically, like you would do when mounting some equipment in the rack. However, compared to the non-ECO flight-cases, this minor annoyance might easily be justifiable given the price saving.

All in all, a good cheap alternative that is robust and will stand the test of time.

Good low-cost rack
thetruearsonist 24.10.2018
I purchased the Thon Rack 2U Eco II 35 right before moving apartments, as my Fractal Axe-FX Ultra didn't have a proper rack case yet, and I wanted something cheap but protective for the ride (as well as maybe bringing the unit to a few gigs or rehearsal spaces in rare cases).

Pros: the construction of the case is pretty sturdy, and with the Ultra it leaves enough room in the back to keep the cables.

Cons: as the price suggests, however, the walls of the case are made from a relatively elastic material which may not fully protect against impacts.

So generally speaking it's a pretty good case, but I would not recommend this to a touring musician, only to someone who carefully wants to move their stuff once or twice a year.

N
A nice flight case for the occasioning travels
NikMartken 21.06.2018
This Thon case is well made, nice profiles and can handle two 19" units pretty easily. Thanks to its great stability, it's a good choice if you want to keep your units well organised on your desk (I've used it for a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 and a Behringer ADA8200 on top of it).
It comes with all screws and gasket, a really nice feature so you can use it straight-away.
The only thing that made me uncomfortable were the panels: they are made by some kind of strong lightweight rigid plastic, a good thing for the occasional travels from place A to B: these panels give a good protection and thanks to the lightweight, the whole thing is not a big problem to carry around. But if you are a constant travel guy that needs to record in different places with his gear, I'd choose something with wooden panels for extra protection.
Overall, this is a good flight case that I recommend if you are looking for something easy to carry and that keeps everything in one place when you need to move somewhere.

Not the best quality out there but for the price, it does the job. I didn't drop the rack up till now so i cant talk about durability. Other than that, the rack is very good for people who like to keep everything simple and organized. I bought this because its a bit deeper than my processor's length and i can fit the cable in the back of it which also has a removable cover. Perfect for transporting your stuff to the rehearse room, studio or even gig without making a big mess of cables.

Very nice rack

Very nice rack; not too heavy but firm nevertheless. Ideal for Focusrite 18i20 (and possible another Focusrite Octopre AD converter). Great for travelling. Quality of building.

The pictures are a bit misleading
Anonymous 14.03.2017
I bought this to protect my bass head, and I thought it would be sturdier. The metal consturction is top notch, but the walls all feel like waxed cardboard. I don't know what they're made of, but I don't think it can take a direct blow from anything. It's more to stop scratches than anything else.

Lightweight quality for a decent price

I use this case for my Orange OB1500 amp and thus far it has done its job perfectly fine. The material is sturdy, the amp was easy to mount, the front and rear panel can be locked. This is an excellent product.

Light and durable
Anonymous 12.10.2014
I wanted a light rack case for gigging with two units. Having used a more expensive Gator case for a while and found the rack fixings and hole tolerances etc. to be quite poor, this case was a notable improvement. It won't take a serious beating, but it's solid enough, it's well machined, and it really is very light.

The handle being on the removable front is my only gripe - it's never been a problem, but I always worry that the front panel could come off when being carried if it wasn't secured properly and the unit would fall. I'm not sure why they didn't put it on the side, like normal. But that's all!
