Perfect for my needs
zorglub76 08.03.2021
First of all, I don't have a producer's ears. So when I say that there's absolutely no noise when using these preamps, take it with a grain of salt.
I have a specific problem that I tried to solve with the FetHead, and I solved it easily. The problem is that I'm getting some digital noise in my Focusrite Scarlett whenever I turn gain passed 1 o'clock. I don't know if it's a psu, or the nearby laptop or something else, but I couldn't get rid of it.
Now, with the FetHeads, I pre-amplify my mic, and I need just a slight gain from Scarlett, so the noise is gone! The sound is exactly the same as without the FetHead, just louder. I hear no distortion or noise. I'm using Lewitt small diaphragm mics that are especially noiseless, but I hope the others would behave the same.
I'd recommend FetHead as a cheap solution to any gain related problems you might have.

Amazing

For this price you get a a lot of extra gain with no loss of audio quality (somehow, I get only 15Db, but OK). Very useful to pump up any signal. More importantly, it makes your mics sound better as you don't have to crank up the pre (better to find that the "sweet spot"). Highly commendable.

Great device that gets the job done
Lonesomeflat 05.07.2022
The preamps on my audio interface and my zoom recorder were a bit too weak for my Rode NT2A. To get sufficient gain I needed to push them to their limits and it produced an awful lot of noise.

The Fethead Phantom is the answer to this problem.
It works really well, no more noise on my recordings and I have more headroom to work with. I'm really more than happy with this product.

I would recommend it to anyone who is in that situation with not enough gain to drive the mic, or just barely enough but getting lots of preamp noise.

Awesome little device !

R
Serves the required purpose for relatively low gain condenser microphone.
Robert8105 19.03.2019
I have a particular condenser microphone that needs a high gain setting on my mixer's preamp, and so has a tendency to cause noise because of the near maximum setting. The FetHead Phantom was the answer because this in-line microphone booster takes its power from the phantom power supplied by the mixer at source and in so doing the FetHead's energised circuits enable about + 18dB further gain to be inserted at the right point. The whole purpose of the device is then achieved because it means the mixer gain rotary switch was advanced to a lesser point than without the FetHead and so noise was eliminated.
The Triton FetHead was cheaper than some rivals and effective for my purposes although no comparisons were made with other makes.
