I'm in heaven! (& so is my back)

I am mainly a solo acoustic performer & I use DAS DS-15 tops weighing in at a sturdy 24kgs. I wanted to update my 10 year old stands (Millennium) as they were about to give up on me at any time. I was going to purchase the Millennium pro set but decided on these as I am getting older and lifting those speakers is not getting any easier.

Out of the box they look impressive. They have a good quality, chunky, solid appearance. They are super easy to use. The adapter for different size speaker mount is cool. You only need to lift the speaker to about chest height (approx 1.4m) They are rated to hold up to 68.2kgs. I don't intend to put that to the test. They claim that they will lift speaker up to 35lbs (16kgs) with no assistance & very little effort to lift any heavier.

I first tested without the speaker and all went well. Then I mounted the speaker & all I can say is wow. When I released the collar the stand started to lift my speaker (24kgs) without any help before stopping half way. I then put out my hand and with 2 fingers and less effort than it takes to lift a pint of beer the speaker was up. Taking down was easier. Just release the collar and down she comes.

I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. These are the most expensive stands I ever bought to date but they are, in my opinion, worth every penny! I do have some reservations about the seals in the chamber and how long they will hold up. But with a 68kg rating I am only less than half that. I did check online for any negative comments or mention of this issue and could not find any. Thanks again Thomann & Ultimate. Both me & my back thank you.

K
not happy.

Edit March 2020 Ok guys, I have been using these for a few months and there is a problem, the stands are very smooth metal, the plastic bushings are very hard smooth plastic. When you finish you gig and lower the speaker, the amount of torque required to lock the stands is crazy. You get the stand expanding in the stand bag etc, at the last gig I had to take the stand home fully extended because the 6mm wing bolt that locks the upper pole lost its thread. I have dismantled the stand and added one of these where the flimsy bolt and clamp used to be
I’m hoping this sorts out the problem ....end of edit.
had If you have light weight speakers these stands are great, my Yamaha dsr 15 are 60 lbs, the stands with a little vertical push do lift these cabs up high, the problem is that it takes 2 people to get these cabs up to the minimum height of the stand which sort of defeats their usefulness. I have wind up stands from which I cut 12 inches off as they too were too high for me, I can’t see me doing the same with these, as they are too dear to blow the warranty on. I’m keeping them, not using them right now, don’t tell the wife :)

Not sure how I coped without these...

Best. Purchase. Ever. Makes lifting speakers to the correct height effortless. I use a pair of Yamama DBR12s that weigh around 15Kg and these stands will lift the speakers with a slight bit of help from the user. So simple to use - both raising and lowering. Compared to the old speakers stands I used, these are much more stable and confidence inspiring. Highly recommended.
