Preamp classic

The Universal Audio Volt 2 USB audio interface offers two high-quality audio inputs and two output channels. The Volt 2's converters can convert incoming analogue signals into a digital data stream in 24Bit/192kHz quality. The preamps of this audio interface can deliver vintage as well as clean sound with which the sound of the classic UA 610 preamp is reproduced. If you also want a compressor that delivers the vintage character of the UA 1176, you can take a look at the Volt 276 audio interface instead. The Volt 2 can be used with computers running Windows 10 or later and macOS 10.14 or later, as well as Apple devices running iOS 14 or later.

High-quality recordings guaranteed

With the Universal Audio Volt 2, recording enthusiasts get the most important functions to achieve high-quality recordings. This includes a 48V phantom power supply for condenser microphones. In order to be able to monitor the audio output of the DAW and the microphone signal without latency, a headphone preamp with headphone output is built in. Users of Windows and MacOS computers as well as iPads and iPhones can use the Volt 2 thanks to its USB-C port. And to ensure that beginners have everything they need, the audio interface comes with a large software package. In addition to state-of-the-art plug-ins, it also contains virtual instruments, a sound collection, and programmes for audio recording and editing.

Home recording, podcasts, and streaming

Multi-instrumentalists and home recorders will be pleased to know that the audio interface's combo inputs are suitable for both XLR and jack plugs and can handle mic, line, and instrument levels. Musicians can use the Volt 2's MIDI ports for external controllers and instruments. This allows them to control virtual instruments and mixer parameters, but also to control external sound generators and effects. Podcasters and streamers can connect high-quality condenser microphones and supply them with phantom power. Because the device is so easy to operate, it is also suitable for beginners.

About Universal Audio

Few manufacturers can draw upon such a breadth of experience in the field of audio recording. Universal Audio's founding father Bill Putnam, along with his buddy Les Paul, have an admirable reputation as trend-setting music producers and developers of legendary analog studio technology. Putnam has recorded Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters and Sarah Vaughan, and was Duke Ellington's favourite sound engineer. He developed the famous 1176 Peak Limiter and distributed the Teletronix LA-2A level amplifier. This earned him a posthumous "Technical Grammy Award" in 2000. In 1999, Putnam's sons Bill Putnam Jr. and James Putnam re-founded Universal Audio, transferring their father's analogue vision and craftsmanship to the digital music world. Their product range includes audio interfaces, dedicated DSP farms and a variety of plug-ins, as well as analogue hardware devices.

Compact solution for first-class sound

The Universal Audio Volt 2 can serve as the central audio unit of a home recording studio. It takes up very little space and can still provide excellent sound. Its size and light weight also make it easy to transport. And it can be used for streaming and recording outside of your own four walls without much effort because it is powered via the USB port. This makes the Volt 2 a good solution for anyone who does not need to record more than two audio channels. To prevent the device from being stolen, there is a connection for a Kensington lock on the rear.

Great sound. All metal build and great plugins. Couldn't download plugins for a moth but support was able to fix the problem at last.

Leveraging Universal Audio's renowned analog expertise
Sekurubae 18.04.2022
The Volt 2 elevates your production space with impeccable style, built to last decades.

It gives you simple 2-in/2-out audio connections. Just plug your mics or instruments into the front panel. Then connect your speakers or headphones to monitor your audio with no latency.

With Volt, you’ll be creating like a pro, fast. Some audio interfaces give you a smattering of random audio apps. Not Volt. Instead, they put together a bundle of serious music production tools, virtual instruments, and plug‑ins from the industry's best.

One of the best purchases I've made in my pursuit to build a home studio.

C
Extremely unhappy
CihanE 14.11.2024
This is my first time I buy a product from universal audio and I'm pretty sure it is also the last time. This thing has an external power input but doesn't come with an adapter. I find an adapter but this time the cable is broken, won't work. Obviously faulty manufacturing. Comes with a USB C to USB A cable, just for the desktop computers, not laptops. It won't work with an original USB A to USB C converter. You'll have to buy a new C to C cable. And if connected via that cable to your laptop, it simply drains the energy off your laptop. The software that come with it? They all require ilok which is a true pain so my advice is to stay away from this one unless you are really looking for any of those plugins. universal audio has never been in my life before this purchase and I understand now how lucky I was. Edit after buying a whole new power cable; this thing's power input is completely broken, won't work at all. uad must be ashamed of such low quality product but I don't think they care about their crappy stuff and customers.

H
So very annoyed
Hindsight 24.12.2022
I needed a small USB interface and I had a few final candidates. Ultimately I chose the volt 2 because of the plugins that came bundled with it.
If I knew what a horrific experience just getting hold of these "free" plugins would be I would have definitely chosen something else.

My computer is now absolutely bloated with product managers and download clients. I've spent hours making accounts, linking iloks, copying and pasting passwords. I've yet to install a single plugin.

Honestly feel very ripped off. The device doesn't even let you install a driver
So that it can be used at all without you downloading a product manager for it. Feel like I've spent a lot of money to trash my computer.
