Impressive Modeler with child diseases
zeebee 15.02.2022
Valeton GP200 amp modeler on a budget

Pro's :
- Very stirdy build metalcase and pedal and clever connections (even USB-C and seperate midi in out plus xlr L/R and jack L/R outputs thumbs up for that
- The amps and stock cabs are very good with great dynamics and with a good IR added (you can load enough of them in the unit ) absolute great sounding
- The Wahs, boosts ,drives and modulation "pedals" are also very usefull
- Operation is breeze ,the pc editor is just very good

Con's :
The delay section definitely needs a firmware upgrade, mostly missing afilter section (a lo pass filter would be great addition) and only one delay is stereo (ping pong) the others are weak and bearely usable since they sit behind you own sound ( IMHO)
Reverb is usable but nothing special
Pitchshift just sucks big time
a lot of the fx are missing a dry/wet mix parameter

So in short a very promising unit where future firmware updates could take it easy to subtop level (helix and others ) amps come very close to fractal feel so Valeton please go ahead with new firmware (including correcting the guiding text of the amps (where valeton now is calling them speakers ???) in the pc editor and beat the lot

T
Very powerful pedal for cheap
Tahiirako 21.12.2023
So Ive wanted this pedal for a while and it didnt disappoint me one bit. For this price ability to have many tunable cabs, amps, effects and even a global eq is quite insane. I played it for a bit and connected multiple external pedals. With enough tweaking you can get a sound youve always wanted and making presets is really easy. Even without the desktop aplication everything you need is easily changable. All the buttons you need to quick access pedals or amp is a good addition. Stomp mode has almost no delay between activating effects and tuner works great. One big bonus is the metal body, the upper buttons are taller making it easy to press them.

Only big drawback that ive found in 3 days of playing is you can have only one of each effect type so if you want a flanger and chorus youd need an external pedal for one of them since both are in modulation pedal spot. Some effects are worse versions of other effects but thats a preference thing and the full manual is only available through internet (the box comes with a quick description of every button and connection).

Overall I believe this mfx pedal is a great addition to an already exiting pedal board and is a great starting point for making one.

M
Very versatile and nice multieffects system for quite a nice price range!
MandolinAndy 25.10.2023
I got this unit for rehearsal and practise use for my smaller amp. I already purchased Hotone Ampero but I was little disappointed because that unit has not the multi-use EXP pedal -> no possible to use EXP with volume and wah at the same time. That was quite odd to me... But in that case Valeton GP-200 is quite good alternative! Very solid made and sturdy metal case and the metallic foot buttons are high quality. There are 6-8 possible knobs to program and with external EXP/additional pedal you can get even more. I have tested that function with Hotone Ampero Switch 2-button and also Thomann own FS-2 button extra pedal, they worked fine with Valeton!

Pros :
+ very versatile and quite cheap multieffect
+ lots of features, amps, cabs, effects etc, I´d say well enough...
+ packaging was good and very informative leaflet inside
+ quite good editor after all and within that you can quite easily update firmwares
+ I think the editor software works also with older FW´s in the unit so they wouldn´t have to match each time?
+ you can program up to 6-8 or even more foot buttons with Hotone Ampero Switch or FS-2 type extra foot controller
+ the upper set of buttons are set higher so you cannot put the lower on by mistake
+ you can use the integrated EXP both volume and wah/switch them on/off in the same bank/preset

Cons :
- people might not know this brand at all so they might miss this product
- I think you cannot use so many MOD/FX effects at the same time, for example chorus and flanger at same time is impossible?
- the editor software might be quite challenging/hard if you have not used these kind of multieffects pedals
- if the bought power unit/adapter fails, I don´t know how you can get a new one?
- I am not so sure how long they keep updating this units FW or editor software updates, the next model might be already coming...

R
Multi Fx for home
Richard0401 04.05.2023
I ordered this product to replace an older, cheaper, broken multi fx I used for years. I did a lot of digging and research and this seemed the best value.

TLDR: Sound demos are making this sound better than it is.

First impression of this unit was pretty good. Its complex, it can do many weird things, but it wasn't too difficult to learn the controls.
Build quality is good, nothing to complain about.
Sound quality is where I start to have my concerns. There are lots of sound demos on sites like YouTube and they showcase some of the presets, but let me tell you, I can never make those presets sound the same as they do in the videos. I tried all 3 of my electric guitars, and they all sounded similar, but not the same as those sound demos. They were meant to be the same patches, I didn't tweak them. You can apply a global eq to the whole units output and that helped but it still sounds significantly more "digital" than in the demos.

The effects in the unit are great. There are tons to choose from and customise. No complaints there. IRs are good, not great but good. The amp models are the weakest links in my opinion. It takes a lot of mixing and matching drive pedals, amps, and cabs to get the tone you want.

I would, and will use this unit for home or band practice. On stage? maybeee.... In a studio? not a chance.

If you just want something for home and you know you have the time and patience to mess around with the tones then this unit will be good enough for you. If you are looking for more professional stuff then, I hate to say this, but save up a bit more money for better stuff.

PN
A professional sounding modeller for a fraction of the cost of the big boys.
Pixel Ninja 30.01.2023
After trying out an Nux MG 400 ...but not finding it really gig worthy (small..plastic, not enough controls switches....but still great sounding). I plumped for the GP 200. A little disappointed at first...but it takes a good few hours to dial in the tones you want. But when you get there...wow...absolutely fantastic. As always , excellent customer service from Thomann...Nux returned and refunded no hassles.

I like the effect, but it's useless to me
Tsvetan Tsvetkov 20.06.2023
So I got the multieffect with the idea to use it instead of a pedalboard. I've been using a NUX Cerberus until now and it can change amp channels via midi when you switch patches. The Valeton can't. I couldn't believe it but it really can't. It has a midi menu that you have to enter and program in order to change amp channels but you can only do that from that menu. You can't program let's say patch A to be on the clean amp channel and patch B to go to the crunch. This single thing makes it useless to me and unfortunately I threw away the packaging and can't return it. I just couldn't imagine that such a basic feature wouldn't work like that.

G
Valeton gp - 200 Volume pedal & software problem!
GuitarBoi098 11.12.2023
Great pedal, works as advised, but two big problems!!! The expression pedal does not work smoothly at smaller volumes. When you go from zero to 1 sound randomly appears instead of gradually increasing. If you play with it at smaller volumes it audibly clips/clicks. I show the sound to my mother who is not a musician and she heard it too. I calibrate the pedal multiple times and reset the system setting and nothing changed.
The second problem is it would not connect to my computer software. I have a standard laptop that handles ableton and adope premiere pro so it is not my computers fault. I restarted and even redownloaded the program (like it said) multiple times and it still did not work.
Everything else worked. If you care about software and intend to use the volume pedal I sadly cannot recomend this pedal.

Amazing unit
Nix93 18.01.2024
Only downside is that you can only have 1 effect of the same type at the time, so can't stack 2 Drive pedals or have 2 Modulations, other then that it's an amazing unit. Highly recommend it!

Very Good, but a few issues
PrettygoodFXpedal 31.03.2024
There is a lot of customisation. It feels really solid and sounds really good. The only issue for me is there is only one slot for modulation, so a flanger and chorus can't be combined on one patch, or a compressor and octave because they are grouped together on the compressor patch, but most of the options on their own are great. The bass wah is really bad though, I would highly suggest getting a bass was pedal like the Morley fuzz wah, which is what I use. I don't know about the guitar wah as I'm not a guitarist. I wouldn't use this to replace an entire pedalboard as I doesn't have options for boutique pedals that have more than 3 knobs.
