I play mostly Jazz, using a 7* tip opening. For a sax quartet I am in I found this mouthpiece to be too loud and too much effort (classical repertoire). After doing some research I decided to buy a Vandoren TL4 mouthpiece. It's perfect, not too loud but has presence if pushed, a nice pure clear quality too it, not stuffy like some classical mouthpieces. Highly recommended, and played with some Vandoren blue box 3 reeds. I can imagine some might find this a little bright for classical. Also worth trying is the TL3, very similar but better for those who want a smaller tip opening and even less volume.
