Nova, as far as I've understood, is sold cheaper due to them not making the absolutely final cut when it comes to weight/balance and stuff up to Vic Firth's standards.
This was the 2nd pair of drumsticks I ever bought. Unfortunately at the time, I was looking for 5A and bought some bigger sticks than intended since I didn't know much about sizes. That being said, I don't regret buying them, because I did end up using them on various songs and I really loved them.
As far as being a Nova, you don't really feel the difference without years and years of experience. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't feel too much of a difference now, it's a great stick for starting out and it is really durable. Had mine for over a year now and they still are not worn out. That being said, those are not the sticks I mainly played with as I used 5A for the longest time, but they feel great, give a great sound and are durable for my playstyle.
