Best choice for practice
g102064021 13.09.2020
Amplug is perfect product to me somebody can't have bass amplifier in a small house. Using Amplug, I can practice without bothering other people by loud and unblockable low frequency sound from bass guitar and I can still have good quality sound during practice.
You can get awesome amp-like sound by using it with good studio headphone (mine is AKG K240S) without complicated parameter set. Built in drum patterns are really useful when you need to play with metronome (but no pure metronome mode available, all the 9 types are drum). fold-able plug design let it be compatible to most of bass model types. But don't forget to remove Amplug from bass before you put back you bass on stander or gig bag after practice.
For cons, I did found the apparent hum noise during operating as other review describes. I have tried to mute bass by knobs on my bass but it still exists. Apparently it comes from circuit design, not from bass. To avoid it, I suggest to turn the vol control low under "6" if possible. To elevate bass hearing volume, try to adjust from gain mode. High gain - low volume get low hum. Now I am comfortable without hearing hum during playing. Another cons as I mention above, no pure metronome mode can be selected. For some specific situation I think I might need to practice with pure metronome because too many note from real drum pattern sometimes confuse me.
By the way, I also tried to use Amplug bass with my guitar. It's amazing! It sounds great with fascinating texture especial with single coil pickup. That surprised me more than use with bass!

JJ
Tiny Killer Amp!
Julius Jimenez 14.10.2015
This is a cute killer amplifier that will be always available for all the bassists on the go. That bass tone that you always wanted can be accessed anytime anywere.

I really think that this item is underrated because there is no way you can compare this amp to previous, primitive and big headphone amplifiers out there.

It is very easy to use and it can really deliver the analog bass tone you’ve been hearing on recordings. However, this is subjective and depending on your bass and headphones. But in any case, there are tons of potential for this buddy.

Jamming is more fun with this bass amp, and will save you money for bills also. Lol. I love the way it was designed since I can connect my player/computer in AUX slot, then out it to my speaker systems when I’m lazy to use my bass amp. Plus the variable drum patterns and metronome built in options are very brilliant. You can stand and carry your bass, along your drummer (the patterns) which are tempo programmable.

The sound of this amp is really serious, but it is really portable, very ideal choice for any learning or professional bassists. It has 3 gain choices depending on your preference.

The volume and tone knobs are normal but they are very well rounded sound and for a compact unit to deliver this VOX tones will really blow your mind. Honestly, this bass amplug made me more serious about my bass playing.

The unit is foldable and rotating 180 degrees, which will accommodate any plugging areas of different basses. The size also allows you to put the unit in your gig bag and use it whenever there are speakers that can carry the heavy tones it can deliver. This small buddy is really the most convenient item in my kit since there is no cable required, aside from your headphones. Very ideal for warm ups, practice.

This unit also features automatic power-off function which will ensure the span of your battery life.

I highly recommend this amp for all bassist and be sure to get if from Thomann, to ensure the fastest delivery possible and their crazy friendly rates.

By the way, these units are MADE IN JAPAN :)

Awesome
The Bass Noob 05.12.2021
Coming in as an entry level Bass Noob I didn't want to buy a speaker amp which would cost as much or more than the bass, especially not knowing if I would stick with it so this little gizmo is perfect. It works fine. There are some click tracks but I don't bother with them at all and use the Aux In which works great. Yeah it's a cheap plastic housing but so what? Eggs come packaged in delicate containers but that doesn't prevent me from buying them. It appears that the unit does not like rechargeable batteries. The unit stopped working while the rechargeable still showed a 50% charge. I replaced with standard non-rechargeable and it works fine. The unit reproduces bass sounds and Aux Input sounds very well. No complaints
EDIT: The device functions really well but is severely underpowered. Surely it needs to be small in size, but 2 AAA batteries just don't cut it for extended use. I was practicing about 2 hours a day and went through 6 batteries in 3 weeks. According to its specs, it should operate for 17 hours on new batteries. To make things worse all the batteries showed a 50% charge when the unit crapped out. I think with a nice rechargeable battery and a power supply it would be much better but then you have to deal with a bigger physical unit and more wires. I think it's great to throw in a gig bag and to use in a pinch but not for extended use. I returned it no problem and bought the Harley Benton HB-40B amp which is super!! Should have gone that route at the beginning but tried to save a few bucks. Well, live and learn. Again, it works great, just underpowered. IMHO

Worth every penny

This is a gem of a device! Some people claim it's very noisy, ours isn't anyways. Sounds surprisingly clean actually.
AUX thru - a very nice feature that.
I think these devices are an absolute must for anyone whether starting out or a long time player. Highly recommend

P
Very good sound
Pitjaaah 17.06.2020
The amp is very easy to use and gives great sound. The possibility to plug a phone in to play along with a song is awesome too. I remember sticking earbuds in my ears and wearing headphones over them to play along with a song.

But, it's not a replacement for an amp simply because it runs on batteries, if it were rechargeable it would be perfect as an amp imo. There are also two modes (red light) that I think sound a bit weak, but that could just be my bass. The green light mode works really well. The knobs for adjusting tone and volume are not labelled very clearly so you will accidentally turn off the volume while wanting to change the tone.

It's the go-to solution for a reason
SebastianJames 09.04.2022
When you ask for recommendations for a headphone amp for bass, this is almost always the one you'll hear most about. There are good reasons for that.

Pros:
- Compact
- Cheap
- Sounds surprisingly good! It's very much on the reggae/dub/Motown side, and isn't hi-fi at all, but does a great job of that fat, deep tone.
- Built-in drum machine; one of its patterns is a simple metronome, too.
- Takes AA batteries, which means you can just rotate rechargeables through it.
- Auxiliary input means you can connect your computer or a phone to it (if you still have a phone with a jack socket). This has a separate volume control from the instrument, which is a nice touch.

Cons:
- Not robust. It's not outright fragile, but the plastic shell is clearly one place they saved on manufacturing costs.

lb
ok if you absolutly need to practic in silence
lost beginner 19.12.2021
the idea is great but the finish feels a bit cheap and it didn't take long before I started getting some interference noise, I can live with it the few times I absolutely just need my bass playing fix in silence, but I wouldn't have minded paying a little bit more and get a better quality product that I would happily use,
it can absolutely be used instead of a micro amplifier in your hotel room on tur where you just need to freshen up a new ad on to the set, but if it failed like mine after just a few weeks of not that much use, you won't be able to stand using it for hours practising because of the constant noise from cheap connections, soldering, components or whatever that makes that noise

This is great for silent practice. I study bass in college, and unfortunetly I can't have my amp on at 2am while studying, so this has been the perfect product for me.

Below-average sound, but very useful little gear
NoraPatches 17.03.2023
The Amplug doesn't sound nice per sé, but I strongly believe it's not its job to do so. The strength of the Amplug is in its portability and the ability to connect an audio source while practicing with it. I think overall it's a great investment for anyone who wants to practice on headphones without the feeling of hooked up with a cable to an amp (and/or at late night).
