First off, I am not in any way a pro or person to give in depth reviews. I am a simple covid-era self taught nobody. I got addicted to guitars once I started playing a bit. I have usually bought Epi's, but went by chance with this Yamaha. I have an APX 700ii 12 string western Yamaha, but thought, OK, I'll try this one. Here's my unprofessional take:
Well packed in a padded gig-bag. Tools and a manual included.
WHAT??? In tune out of the box????
The finish is flawless. The tuners are quite sensitive so that only a very minor twist moves the strings miles. JK...Knobs have just enough resistence to keep them in place. Push/Pull mid boost...incredible.
There is absolutely nothing wrong IMHO with this guitar.
It sounds incredible in any of the switch positions. It really emphasizes pedals. FUZZ....wow, this thing will fuzz you and your neighbors out of town. It really chugs. Clean, dirty, no matter, a superior sound.
My only work to set it up was to raise the neck pickup. A few minor tweaks on the bridge PU and I was playing within minutes. Stays in tune, perfectly intonated, feels great. The matt/satin finish on the neck feels great.
I'll say, for 800 bucks, this is a bargain. I really can't say anything bad about it. My only regret....I maybe should have bought the green one. But this blue is cool too.
OH...and Elixir strings, stainless steel jumbo frets. Just perfect for me.
