Ridiculously good.
awts7s 23.07.2022
Without giving you my life story, I've got some experience that I hope makes this review useful. I studied drums at music school, and one of the best things about it was getting to play different kits and setups every day in different situations and spaces, playing a ton of different genres and just getting used to the different tones available from cymbal sets. All were high end Zildjian, K, A, you name it, they had it. Around that time I invested in my 'for life' cymbal set which was mostly A Custom Zildjians, which I adored, but sadly they got lost on tour and I could never afford to replace them.

Until recently I didn't play as much but I've got back into gigging and session playing and needed a setup that was musical, dynamic and had that special 'pro' sound that I previously believed you could only get from spending the big bucks on the set like I used to have. The fact is I just don't have €1000+ to spend on cymbals, so I looked into these instead.

These cymbals are amazing. Don't let the low price point put you off, they absolutely stand up against the more expensive sets in every single way. They're bright, and really dynamic (if you've ever played cheaper B8 or brass cymbals you'll know they're normally all or nothing, sort of 'bin lid' sounding with lots of gross, muddy overtones and resonances, but these being B20 bronze are beautiful and crisp with a nice explosive projection and just the right sort of decay).

They're a fantastic all-round set, not too loud and not too distinct in any direction sound-wise (not too dry/jazzy, not too loud/rocky). If I walked into a gig and saw a set of these sitting on the kit I'd be thrilled.

The only thing I feel is missing for my setup now is some sort of trashy, perhaps darker FX crash, something with a bit of vibe maybe, as these are - in the best way possible - not overly characterful. The great thing is at this price point you can add in things like that without having to save up for years. The other sets like the Dune or Dark Matter probably more characterful sound but I needed something to fit all genres.

Also, the ride cymbal feels great to me, some reviewers had concerns the 20" didn't sound as good as the 22" that can be bought separately. I think it's great, personally. Nice bright bell sound, decent projection on the ping/ride, I don't crash on it a lot as the 18" crash washes out really nicely. Maybe Thomann could offer the 22" as an upgrade to this pack as I'm sure many would happily pay the difference. The fact that you can buy three of these for the price of an equivalent Zildjian set just blows my mind. Amazing.

B
Worth the money? Definitely!!!
BoRdo 07.02.2018
As i am relatively new to this whole drumming thing, i was not sure what to buy as my first cymbal set. I browsed around 50 different sets and finally got to this one. In samples it sounded awesome, price was relatively small and it came with it`s own bag.

Now i have used this set for like 5 month and i am loving it. As my technique is not perfect and i love heavy metal, i abuse them like boxing bag and they are still holding. Sound is nice although not quite what i was expecting. I don`t even know what else to mention here!

Pros: Price - AWESOME for what you get
Cary bag - I`m moving this set around 3x times a week and it still holds after 5 month. I would say it`s awesome

Cons: Sound was a bit different from samples that i heard here and in other reviews. Dont get me wrong it it is till really good, but i was looking into a bit different pitch.

Overall: This product almost got 3x 5stars from me but after i thought about it - sound could have been more what i was expecting. On the other hand what did i expect for this price? right? :)

A Customs on a budget!
Alex Djuran 07.04.2019
I've been playing drums for about 6 years and the entire time I was playing on fairly low end cymbals. I recently got into recording live drums and the sound of those cheap cymbals was very overwhelming and didn't sound good at all.

I have researched a ton of cymbals suited for rock/metal recording and it basically came down to AAXes vs A Customs.

ENTER ZULTAN ROCK BEATS

Holy crap are these ever good. Just before I found out about these, I was testing a whole bunch of high end cymbals at my local music store and I am SO GLAD I bought these instead. They are absolutely amazing!

The Hihat is fairly loud, sounds very crisp but it doesn't have nasty overtones and there is a good amount of smooth stick definition!

The crashes are really nice. They have a sublime and elegant wash/sustain, the decay is just perfect.

The ride is veeery heavy. It's probably my least favorite from the set, but it's still mind blowingly good. The wash on it is particularly loud, so in some cases it can overwhelm the stick definition, but it's not that difficult to work around. The bell is the real kicker as its loud and cuts trough amazingly!

Overall, this set is a no brainer. If you're looking for your 1st studio set of cymbals, or just something that will sound amazing for a touring drummer, this is it!

An obvious choice for everyone at this price range, though not suitable for everyone.
arbs6 30.01.2023
I really don't know what to think about this set - It's a nice set and and one of the best in this price range, but it has a few weak points that have me second-guessing whether I should change a few of the cymbals or not.

The hi-hat is absolutely golden - It has a nice stick definiton and also has a very crisp and perfectly responsive sound regardless of how you play it. Definitely a nice choice on its own if you don't want the whole set. I will be keeping and playing it until it's in pieces.

The 16-inch crash responds very nicely and feels nice to play and the tone overall is musical. My only complaint is that it is much higher in pitch than what I've heard in the review videos on Zultans channel, which kind of bothers me since I really don't like overly bright sounding cymbals and I feel like an idiot for thinking that the company's own reviews wouldn't be EQ'd to hell.

The 18-inch crash doesn't really do anything wrong and it fits into this set nicely. It feels a little less responsive and quicker to reach its maximum volume than the 16-inch cymbal - Doesn't really bother me, but it takes a little time getting used to the minimal difference in how it plays when riding on it etc.

The ride has a smooth sound and it has a nice stick definition, but it is very loud, so it's not the best choice for quiet music. I like the bell of it, since it has a rather dark ping and it's not as ear piercing as other ride bells I've heard, which I personally like.

My biggest disappointment with the ride is that it's quite thick and it doesn't respond well to crashing at all and it doesn't sound good if you try to crash on it, which I dont really like because I was used to crashing on my ride since I only had one crash before buying this set. Now I'm still stuck on two crashable cymbals - Nice ride for the money, but not for somebody who wants to crash on it.

TL;DR, Key points:

- Over-all all of the cymbals are very loud and aren't the optimal choice if you want to play quiet music. (at least not for me, since I am a hard hitter and the cymbals are loud as I said)
- The Hi-Hat is easily the strongest link in this set, since it has a crisp sound and I've yet managed to find situations where it doesn't fill its needs.
- 16-inch crash is very bright, which I dislike
- The ride isn't crashable and its a problem for me.

Amazing set for the money, but keep my negative points in mind if they happen to be things that bother you. If you would strictly use this set for practicing, then don't even think twice.

Don't know what happened to the cymbals when they changed the label on it and added 100€ to the price, but I guess you should never be late to a party.

Mid Range Brilliant Sound - Excellent Value
Liam Howlin 05.11.2021
18" crash sounds very good with my Sabian AAX set. The bright cut delivers the crisp sound above its price class. 16" Crash(replacing an original Sabian B8 in my set). A great buy for mid level professional sound at an excellent price.

A
Zultan PROFI cymbalset???
Anonymous 16.09.2016
After reading a lot of postive feedbacks and Thomann audio samples of these cymbals I decided to buy one set...
The cymblas finish looks very nice and clean, nice packed...
Sound and perform conclusion:
I have found
HiHat: nice crisp sound closed, open too much overtones...
other 3 cymbals have very specific tones and they dont match and dont harmonize together... Really frustrating.
The sound irritated my ears.
Finally I sold Zlutan cymbalset and bought Zildjian S Performer set which have nice warm and crisp splash, they harmonize together and are perfect sounding cymbals set...

Great Value for Money
Anonymous 26.09.2016
These were purchased to go with the new drum set that we have for our forming band at church. They have been great and are clearly good quality. The crashes complement each other really well and you can get a good ring on the ride.
The only downside is that I can't make the hi-hats sound nice together but that is maybe user error.
If I had to buy cymbals again, I'd certainly consider these - they are well worth the investment.

Best bang for the buck
johnnytide 02.10.2019
I love these cymbals. Completely satisfied.

IMO, big brands at this price level make worse sounding cymbals.

I got these cymbals to play at home and for gigging (to preserve my best cymbals for studio).

- Crashes: lovely sound (heroes of this set).
- Hi-hat: crisp, clear, glassy, i like it.
- Ride: crashable (although not super easy to open), bell does have a ping (not the silentest and not the loudest).

- Pros: price, quality, crashes.
- Cons: at this price none (depending from personal preference, the ride or the hi-hat are the weaker part of the set, but still good imo).
