An excellent pair for drum overheads
Alex Dascal 21.05.2020
I've been using these as my no-comment go-to for drum overheads. Compared to other microphones I've tested they are the most pleasant when it comes to capturing overhead.

I'm currently using them in a spaced setup balanced full R-L Stereo. They provide a very warm sound and it generally tones cymbals down a little bit. The sound is a little "creamier" with these two compared to a small diaphragm pair (Rode NT-5 MP) -- the small diaphragms are a bit more pingy and metal-sounding.

I usually keep my preamp gain at around 10/11 o'clock with these while suspended half a meter above the cymbals and it pours a really powerful signal through -- the gain on these microphones is very good.

The price for these feels like a bargain as they yield very good results sonically and you get a case, spider suspensions, wind shields, stand adapters and regular holders. The carrying case itself is pretty neat and feels well-built and sturdy.

It's a very good alternative to it's bigger brother C414 and for half the price you get a very close quality and sound profile. The C414 are indeed a little bit better but for general purpose recording applications you are in a very good spot with a pair of C214s.

TL;DR -- If you are looking for a pair of large diaphragm mikes that feel and sound premium but are on a budget -- this is the BEST option.

Paired microphones, quality workmanship, very nice and warm sound. Usable for a wide range of uses, from vocal recording to instrument recording. The microphone offers significantly more than its price.

Nice with the odd bump
MuddyNick 19.10.2020
Great sounding mic's, very clean and natural. Perfect for vocals and make pretty decent drum overheads as well however, I have found it to sometimes be a little off in the low end when tried it on a baby grand and a guitar. Otherwise, it's been a fantastic mic and it now comes out regularly on live sets.

Great mics

We use these for overheads on the drums and no longer need individual mics on each tom.

These are great sounding mics, just as everyone has already said.
