AKG WMS 40 Mini Dual Vocal/Inst
Greyjam 04.06.2020
This is a useful tool for the Solo Guitarist.
I use backing tracks as my band and need both Guitar mobile (No leads)
and also a microphone (no leads) so I can interact with the audience.
This unit was well priced and has performed superbly at small gigs and large ones.
I have never had any interference from other radios (Taxis etc).
Battery life on the Guitar radio sender and Microphone is unbelievable and the receiver is of course mains.
Quality of sound on both is also good.

EXCELLENT AKG DUAL WIRELESS SYSTEM
C D E 08.08.2013
I recommended this to a Rotary Club because of previous experience with AKG dual. The receiver is compact yet each channel has its own gain control and balanced output. The on-off switch on the handheld is on the barrel which is good, much better than on the base. There is some mechanical hand noise but it is not really too noticeable. The beltpack is light. My criticism is the belt clip is too tight - but with strength it can be eased. The indicator LED on both handheld and beltpack are much too small and not easy to see. Apart from that, no criticisms. The mini XLR connector is very secure. AKG do not produce the dual combination of handheld with tie clip or headband so we had to buy the vocal/instrument dual set and an extra microphone to plug into the beltpack.

R
Built to a price, works well, poor quality control
RonanMcD 25.04.2017
Being tight on budget, I opted for this unit, rather than the more pricey mid-market AKG wireless options. The cable that connects the PT40 (instrument transmitter) - it's got a 1/4" jack on one end and a "mini" XLR that clicks into the PT40 itself was very poor quality. On both ends, the soldered connection for the signal was sharp and had pierced the translucent insulating material, causing intermittent shorting of signal. I had to fix it myself - which amongst us has the time to return the entire product because of a $2 cable?

That aside, the product sounds great and, for the money, is a good value.

A
Two birds with one stone!
Anonymous 11.03.2016
We needed a wireless mic on a budget and bought this for live performances. Great little bonus about this is that we were able to get a wireless unit for a guitarist too.

Pros: The unit is compact and easy to use. Connections to mixing desk and to instrument are straightforward. Comes with power supply. Having two signals going to the one unit is convenient. Sound quality was very good and there was minimal tone adjustment on the guitar especially. Good range on both transmitters.

Cons: The mic shape doesn't fit securely in the standard size mic stand holder. The package didn't include an adapter for this.

Overall: Good unit at a great price for what it is and what it does.
