The best-sounding master clock

The Antelope Audio Isochrone Trinity is a master clock that combines outstanding quality with dedicated functions for professional applications. It offers a high accuracy level of +/-0.001ppm (calibrated at the factory), in addition to which its three audio generators are able to achieve a sample rate of up to 384kHz. The fourth generation of the internal "Acoustically Focused Clocking" technology allows clocking at 64 bit per DSP, and extremely low jitter values are achieved via the Isochrone Trinity's oven-controlled crystal oscillator. The rear panel also features a dedicated input to allow clock signals to be received from the 10M Atomic Clock as well as numerous connections to make flexible integration into every setup possible. All of these features together make for a reliable and precise master clock that will capably handle a wide range of applications.

Clearly arranged display

With a selection of 16 different HD formats created by three independent HD generators, users of the Antelope Isochrone Trinity are prepared for every application. Added to that, its three SD generators can create colour frequencies for both the NTSC and PAL formats. A display located in the centre of the front panel provides information for all three audio channels (including their current state) as well as Varispeed and pull-ups/pull-downs. The audio channels can be selected for editing using the buttons to the left of the display - either individually or simultaneously, with the latter resulting in a single-channel master clock - and for added comfort, the brightness of the Antelope Audio Isochrone Trinity's display can also be adjusted using the dimmer located to the right of it. What is more, the "Info" button gives the user access to more useful information about the source via the display.

Three independent audio channels

The Antelope Audio Isochrone Trinity features two additional sections with which the user can edit the three audio channels: To the left of the display is a section that allows the source and the sample rate to be selected. Via the "Source" button, users can set which time reference they want the master clock to receive (with the "Oven" setting referring to the internal crystal oscillator). After an audio channel has been selected, its sample rate can be set via the corresponding control knob, and the Varispeed function can be activated using the button in the lower-left corner. The buttons below the sample rate knob allow the user to select a European pull-up/pull-down of +/-0.1% or an American pull-up/pull-down of +/-4%. In DA mode, the Trinity Isochrone passes the incoming audio clock selected using the "Source" knob through a jitter management module to produce a clean, de-jittered signal.

Reliable synchronisation

Thanks to the features it has on offer, the Antelope Isochrone Trinity master clock has found favour among professional studio operators and been used in many modern music and film productions as well as live shows. If synchronisation to the source is somehow lost for a period of time, the Trinity will seamlessly free-wheel via its internal crystal oscillator until the signal returns, and the double-redundant power supply switches automatically if a sudden power outage occurs, so reliable operation is ensured. An output signal for every channel can be created independently from the input frequency using the "Gearboxing" mode, which makes use of all possible input and output formats. The rear panel also features a USB port to allow the master clock to be controlled from a computer running a Windows or Mac operating system with software that can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

About Antelope Audio

Antelope Audio is a manufacturer of professional audio equipment that was founded by developer Igor Levin, who invented the famous AardSync clock generator with which his then-company Aardvark made waves in the world of audio engineering at the end of the 20th century. In 2005, Igor Levin went – as he himself put it – back to his roots and continued to develop the AardSync concept. The result of this development work was the “Oven Clock”, a word clock generator that is kept at a constant temperature of 64.5°C to provide increased stability and improve jitter performance. The newly founded Antelope Audio caused a similar splash in 2005 with its OCX Clock Generator. Today, Antelope Audio, which is based in Sofia, Bulgaria, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-quality audio interfaces and AD/DA converters and includes big names such as Rihanna, Jay-Z, and the Wu-Tang Clan among its users.

Flexible formats and outputs

The purpose of the second section on the Antelope Isochrone Trinity's user interface is to allow the user to set up the HD channels. Three push encoders are provided with which the HD rate can be adjusted, which need to be pushed in order to apply a setting so that no unwanted changes accidentally happen while adjusting settings. Below each of these encoders is a button that activates a pull-down of -0.1%, and the "SD" button allows the user to switch between NTSC and PL for outputs SD 3 and SD 4. Flexible connectivity options for all three channels can be found on the rear side - including an AES/EBU output, an S/PDIF output, and word clock outputs for the sample rate. In addition to these options, the Antelope Audio Isochrone Trinity also features outputs for the 256x word clock format, which is used in older Digidesign components. Finally, independent video signal outputs for all three channels can be found on the right side of the rear panel.
