Aesthetically Pleasing & Highly Functional
JChong 20.11.2020
Needed to swap out my old K&M pop filter which had the meshing tearing. I'd figured I could change out the mesh with some stocking from the dollar store but hey, it's a good opportunity to get a sturdier and nicer looking one.

Looked around for alternatives and I've always been impressed with Aston's pop filters; they look slick and are high functional. Took the dive and ordered this along with my Brauner microphone in the same order. When it came I was surprised how sturdy the gooseneck is. The only drawback was that it's really really really STIFF. A good thing though. Also I'm not a huge fan of the clamp, I would have preferred the ones with a screw which you can tighten onto the microphone stand but the clamp seems tough enough. Only time will tell if the spring loosens up or gives way. Also if the rubber bushings give way it's not going to hold anymore unless you replace it.

Tried it out, excellent pop rejection. It's almost near zero before and after and I don't notice much of a difference in the top end. Some pop filters sort of deaden the top end with too thick of a mesh, other's have very poor plosive rejection (*cough* like the K&M *cough*) but this impressed me.

If any I would have considered the shockmount with the pop filter but the Brauner mics come with their own really nice proprietary shockmount so that might be a purchase few years down the road.

Seems well made
steadyokay 01.10.2020
Sound is unique, sometimes though if your set-up isn't very good you'll notice a metallic sound to your voice. Keep in mind, this happens with basically every bad set-up though, so not necessarily the shield.

I have moved it a lot and unfortunately it's pretty loose now, as every other kinda cheap pop filter. I place it in front of the mic and as soon as I let go, it tilts further down.

There's a slight chance that due to its design I can screw it in harder or something, but it seems to be the snake is just broken.

I'd still recommend as I think it's mostly my fault and the constant moving from one studio to the other that broke it somewhat.

J
Really good for plosives
JEON 06.06.2023
I recently had bought the Aston Microphones Shield pop filter, and I must say that it has become an indispensable tool in my recording setup. This pop filter truly lives up to its reputation as a top-tier accessory for achieving professional-grade vocal recordings.

First and foremost, the build quality of the Aston Microphones Shield is exceptional. It is evident that great attention to detail has been given to every aspect of its design. The sturdy construction and durable materials used ensure that this pop filter will withstand the test of time, even in the most demanding recording environments.

One of the standout features of the Shield is its innovative design. Unlike traditional pop filters that rely on a circular mesh, the Aston Shield employs a unique wave-form design. This not only adds a touch of elegance to the overall appearance but also effectively disperses plosive sounds and eliminates unwanted sibilance. The result is a cleaner, more transparent vocal recording that retains the natural nuances of the performer's voice.

Another remarkable aspect of the Shield is its versatility. It can be easily adjusted to accommodate various microphone sizes and positions. Whether you're using a large-diaphragm condenser microphone or a compact dynamic mic, the Shield provides optimal protection against plosive bursts, ensuring that your recordings are free from harsh popping sounds.

Furthermore, the Shield's quick-release mechanism makes it effortless to attach or remove from a microphone stand. This feature is especially handy during intense recording sessions when time is of the essence. The flexibility and ease of use provided by this pop filter allow me to focus more on my performance and less on technicalities.

In terms of performance, the Aston Shield delivers exceptional results. It effectively reduces proximity effect, which is especially useful when working with close-miking techniques. The enhanced clarity and improved tonal balance make it a valuable asset in capturing vocals that cut through the mix effortlessly.

Lastly, I must commend Aston Microphones for their commitment to environmentally friendly practices. The Shield is made from sustainable and recyclable materials, ensuring that our recording endeavors do not come at the expense of the planet. This eco-conscious approach adds another layer of satisfaction to an already exceptional product.

In conclusion, the Aston Microphones Shield pop filter is an outstanding addition to any recording setup. Its impeccable build quality, innovative design, versatility, and exceptional performance make it a must-have tool for anyone seeking crystal clear vocal recordings. With the Shield, you can confidently capture every nuance of your voice without the worry of unwanted pops and sibilance. I wholeheartedly recommend the Aston Microphones Shield to any recording enthusiast or professional in search of superior vocal recording quality.

Great Quality and Looks really good
Ludwig R 20.12.2020
This thing looks really really great and the quality is very nice as you would expect for the price! Unfortunately for me compared to a fabric pop shield or others that I use this seems to have a slight affect on some tones of my voice that I don't like.. it is pretty subtle though so maybe just a personal issue!
