I found this to be a medium shallow mouthpiece. Has a really comfortable rim that is rounded enough for flexibility but flat enough to spread the pressure.
The cup depth shallow enough for compression but has enough depth to allow freedom and sound production. There is a good undercut into the cup which helps when the lips swell.
This mouthpiece had the standard reeves 2 backbore with gives a focused sound and good projection and can be used in all playing settings.
My only reservation is that the shank size is a Reeves 4 which gives a larger gap in the instrument?s mouthpiece receiver. Most mouthpiece shanks are based on a 5 which gives a smaller gap. Depending on what instrument you play a larger gap can result in the instrument feeling more stuffy and resistant to play. However it is probably better to have a larger gap than too small a gap.
