Powerful sound – set up in a heartbeat

The Bose L1 Pro16 portable line array system, which features a larger number of mid-high speakers and an extended low-frequency range compared to the smaller Pro8 model, offers the perfect combination of powerful output and simple setup. Thanks to its elegant matt black design with rounded edges, the modular Bose L1 Pro16 easily blends into just about any stage set and décor, while taking next to no time to set up: All users have to do is mount the two slim line array elements on the robust subwoofer power stand for a standing audience, or assemble the mid-high array directly on the base unit without the extension element for a seated audience. The base unit features numerous connections and controls on the rear panel, including Bluetooth, a built-in compact mixer (which can also be controlled via the Bose Music app), and easy-to-use tone controls with dedicated buttons for selecting one of the various ToneMatch presets.

Line array system and mixer

The Bose L1 Pro16 comes with a convenient three-channel mixer that allows instruments, mics, and other sources to be easily connected. The first two inputs feature two XLR/jack combo sockets with switchable phantom power for both channels, while the third input provides 6.35mm and mini-jack sockets as well as Bluetooth connectivity. All mixer settings can be wirelessly controlled via the Bose Music app, and the integrated ToneMatch port allows users to connect an additional Bose T4S or T8S mixing console (both available separately). Setting up and connecting the portable L1 Pro16 to a power supply using the included IEC power cord is a breeze, so listeners can instantly enjoy a powerful sound thanks to the particularly slim 10"x18" high-excursion RaceTrack driver with 16 articulated 2" neodymium drivers. Users can also select from a wide range of ToneMatch presets to create an optimum sound for their performance. And thanks to its horizontal coverage of 180°, the Bose L1 Pro16 line array system always provides a clear and even sound distribution to every member of the audience.

For small and medium venues

The Bose L1 Pro16 PA system is specially designed for small and medium-sized venues, where it will win over solo artists, duos, mobile DJs, and audiences alike thanks to its voluminous sound. The built-in subwoofer with an extended LF response that starts at 42Hz gives just about any type of music an impressive boost, and the J-shaped line array offers a wide horizontal coverage of 180° for a clear and even sound distribution to the audience as well as tight vertical control on top and wide dispersion on the bottom, so audiences can be covered from an elevated stage. The system takes next to no time to set up, which makes it the ideal companion for touring artists. Singer-songwriters in turn can connect their vocal microphone and a guitar, while DJs are provided with two fully-functional XLR inputs. The Bose L1 Pro16 is also eminently suitable for product presentations, since it allows speakers to quickly connect their microphone and play background music from a smartphone via Bluetooth connectivity.

About Bose

Bose is an American manufacturer founded in 1964, and is known for its audio products designed with psychoacoustics in mind. The idea is to focus not on the performance of a loudspeaker, but on the perception of the sound. The 901 speaker system, which was produced from 1968 to 2008, became legendary. Bose manufactures audio technology for both private and professional use, from hearing aids to sound systems and from headphones to vehicle stereo systems.

Great sound in seconds

Touring solo artists looking for a portable line array system with a powerful sound will benefit from the great ease of setup and transportation offered by the Bose L1 Pro16. Thanks to the integrated handle, the subwoofer power stand is very easy to carry from one venue to the next without additional help, and a case for the mid-high array and the extension element is included in the scope of delivery. An additional protective cover for the base unit can be purchased separately. After arriving at the venue, the L1 Pro16 PA system is set up in seconds simply by mounting the three elements together. Solo musicians can then plug their vocal mic into the first or second channel input and use the other mono channel for a keyboard or guitar. For an optimised sound output, they can add a preset by pressing the ToneMatch button of the corresponding channel until the LED for the desired preset illuminates, and subsequently fine-tune volume, treble, bass, and reverb to taste using the channel parameter control - then all they have to do is perform.

J
A great(est) speaker with a construction problem
Jakica2 28.06.2024
There is so much to say about this system... The sound, it is just amazing. The bass is so clear. The first time we used it, a friends SM7B was on a microphone stand that couldn't tighten the main rod to be off the floor. When he moved the stand, suddenly we thought there was a thunder outside, not by volume, but by the natural sound it produced. It is that good.
The software also gives many nice perks. To be able to control them remotely on a phone via bluetooth is great. I don't really use the EQ as these 2 are connected to a M32, but to be able to mute the inputs from M32 and use them as bluetooth speakers (in stereo!) is phenomenal.
The column speakers, although with the problem mentioned below, are also crystal clear. The column is a tweeterless design, which gives the system a great clarity but without the usual harshness you would get from speaker designs that use tweeters in some form.

Now, the bad side, and really the only bad side is the construction. To be more precise, the column speakers are mounted so wobbly that each time someone goes near the system I have a heart attack. The columns feel if you try to push them just a little bit that they will break, as it is a poorly mounted piece of plastic. I don't have the guts to move the speaker even a little bit without the columns demounted.

Although the system has this one problem, I have to give it overall 5 stars, as I am using it in a church where there is not much potential for a disaster. I should also note that I didn't test their volume capabilities, as there was never any need to go over 1/4 volume.
Would I buy it again? YES! (kinda). If there is a possibility that people would go near it, I would probably go for something like Maui 28 G3 which, although is a bit harsher system by sound, it is built like a tank.

Wacklige Säule
Xanadoumusic 10.08.2021
