Powerful PA system with line array features

The dBTechnologies ES602 is a scalable, versatile, and portable line array system which comprises a 10" subwoofer and an external satellite speaker consisting of four vertically aligned 3" drivers. This “line array” design coupled with the onboard DSP allows the ES602 to truly shine. All the components are optimised to guarantee a rich and crystal-clear sound, as well as maximise coverage and dispersion. A height-adjustable mounting bar and speaker-twist output cable are also provided. Anyone hosting events, whether professionally or not, will greatly appreciate the combined advantages of a line array and a DSP system.

dB Technologies ES602

Crystal clear and DSP enhanced

The core of the ES602 is the DIGIPRO G3, a state-of-the-art Class-D digital amplifier with a peak power of 800W. The whole system is controlled by the integrated DSP, which allows the user to select the preset best suited to the environment. The ES602’s generous 10" bass-reflex subwoofer also houses the amplifier module which powers the satellite speaker. Importantly, the satellite is designed according to the line array principle. Its four 3" Neodymium drivers, for midrange and treble, are vertically aligned and at slight angles from each other, which results in much more efficient sound dispersion. The directivity of 95x65°, i.e. the "sonic beams" is wide and optimised for good coverage, a feature normally found on high-end systems for large-scale events. dBTechnologies has thus made line array technology affordable and available to much smaller venues.

Line arrays for everyone

The acronym "ES" stands for "Entertainment-System", which accurately describes ES602’s intended purpose. dBTechnologies developed this product with a primary focus on portability and ease of use. It is ideal for for DJs, especially those who haul their own gear, speakers at conferences and events, solo musicians and small bands, and of course anyone else looking for a high-quality PA system to cover a medium-sized space. This is all made possible by the ES 800W power amp and dedicated DSP capabilities. "On the road" performers or event organisers will also appreciate the compact dimensions and light weight of the ES602. This all-in-one system takes up very little room and is easily set up and taken down.

About dBTechnologies

In the mid-90s, dBTechnologies was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of A.E.B. Industriale s.r.l.. Since then, the company has established itself as one of the world's leading suppliers of professional sound systems. Today, dBTechnologies is present in more than 100 countries with its own sales offices or representing distributors. In the mid-2000s dBTechnologies switched to digital amplifier technology on its own initiative and as one of the first manufacturers in the industry, and can look back on more than 10 years of experience in the development of digital power amplifiers and their environments, including power supply and Digital Signal Processing. Their current catalogue includes active and passive loudspeakers, power amplifiers and electronics as well as wireless systems for a wide range of applications from musicians and DJs to event technology service providers and permanent installations.

dB Technologies ES602

A scalable and versatile system

A typical setting for the ES 602 would be, for example, right next to a keyboard for easy access and control. DJs and event hosts will also benefit from the compact and transport-friendly design, allowing them to perform at family or even medium-sized events. The ES 602 will also come in handy wherever large speaker arrays are not an option due to space constraints, such as in hotel reception areas or booths at trade shows and conventions, etc. Two ES 602s can easily be combined to create a stereo system with considerable power. The ES602 works fully standalone and can also easily become part of a larger setup when required.

In the spotlight: Line array

A "line array" refers to a cluster speakers that are arranged in a horizontal or vertical line, subtly angled away from each other either horizontally or vertically, in order to provide the most consistent sound coverage over the intended area. In ideal terms, the system ensures that every point in space at the venue receives the exact same audio signal at the exact same time, and corrects any phase issues and/or problematic frequency responses in the process. The line array thus resolves outright all the problems typically encountered with traditional stereo systems. Line arrays operate on the principle of complex waveguides, measured in real time, that keep sound waves confined within specific areas.

I have four ES602 but mostly use one for small gatherings. I need a quick and easy set up and this does fulfill that need on the whole. I have a Mackie ProDX4 mixer that I use with this so I can quite easily set it up discreetly in a corner or behind some unit or other with the speaker only showing and control it wirelessly. On the whole I really like it. There are pro's and cons of course but it's mostly all positive. The overall power is ok. The rating is 118db if I recall so definetly not super loud but in general it is enough for the style of music I do (Jazz and Swing). I used all four in a medium sized room with my brothers group very recently. Four mics and backing tracks and there was just about enough volume. Four vocalists belting did sap all the power but it was just about enough. Feedback with the ES602 is like with most systems something you have to watch out for. The ES602 is nowhere near as feedback resistant as the LD Maui 5 for instance (which I also have and is a very close competitor in reality) so do bear that in mind. The quasi line array doesn't give you any real benefits in that respect but the dispersion seems very good and the spread of sound is excellent. Bass is surprising especially when close coupled and might actually have to be dialled back in some cases. Again in comparison to the Maui 5 it is much tighter and defined and goes a little deeper. Using four for DJ purposes again in a medium room they are just about up to the task. The clip light will blink at you fairly soon and I don't tend to mess around with the different settings at the back when driving it hard instead I use the eq on the mixer. The highs are a little muted and the midrange a trifle arid and hard. A little boost on the highs and dialling back the midrange quickly gives you an ideal balance. It's a well engineered system but could do with some thumbscrews at the back of the speakers to stop them swivelling on the stands. Also getting the speakons out of the speakers is pretty difficult. On the whole you would be best off just leaving the speaker cables attached. They don't take up much room in a bag so it really is the best solution. I got them at a bargain price like some others on here hence me buying four. I figured it would cost me that price for a small sub so why not dive right in and take a modular approach to sound? They bass part of the ES602 only weighs 14kg so a one handed carry in is quite easy unless you are a slight female or maybe have a bad back (if you are a regular 'bloke' and can't do it.........get your arse to the gym!). It looks good, sounds good and is capable of doing justice to most kinds of music. If you get it at a Thomann discount price with the level of service they give there really isn't anything to ponder just go for it!

Exceeded my expections

If your thinking of buying a compact system and are hovering over the BUY button then just click it, honestly you won't regret it!!

Now don't get wrong it's still a case of horse's for courses, if your (let's just say) a mobile Dj and you do many different venues of various sizes (again lets just say) upto 300 people with this being your only/main P.A, then obviously this system isn't for you and you may want to look at spending 4x the price of these for the FBT Vertus CS1000.
But if like me you have a residency or regularly do smaller venues then this system up to about 100 peopleis the mutts nuts.

I own Yamaha dxr 10's, 15's and subs and brought these as an alternative to the 10's

Last night I was in one of my regular venues a decent sized pub playing a massive variety of music from the 60's through to garage including reggae and rock too, these handled it immensely, infact I drove these harder and louder than I would usually do in that venue just to see what they had in them and still didn't see a red light lol although I did peak them with my mic (it'll take a couple of outings and some tweaking to get my mic how i like it to sound).
But even some of the regulars in there comment about how much nicer these sounded compare to my usual system (usually I use a pair of Yamaha dxr 10's with 30% more output and a higher spl, 131 compared 118 on these)

Yes there's many of these line array systems on the market now but I challenge anyone to find me a system that comes anywhere near the quality of this without at least doubling their budget

Bite the bullet, honestly you wont be disappointed

Best value for money

I decided to upgrade my speaker gear, so I sold my old 2x10" active speakers. I play electric guitar and I sing using backing tracks. I thought about giving a try to the 602s for better sound spreading and hopefully clearer, since the subwoofer cabinet is made out of wood.
I purchased one unit to try it first and when I tested it, I ordered one more. I was surprised when I opened the box, from the built quality. When I turned on the unit, I realized that the sound is crisp clear, with very nice tight deep bass. Although I was unsure about the volume power that seemed not powerful enough.
So I took it outside on the street and tested it even at full volume. I then understood that it is strong enough and the wide sound spread that it has, makes you think that it's not powerful enough, but finally I was satisfied and ordered the 2nd unit.
I waited to go on a few gigs first, in order to give my review feedback. So after 3 gigs at a hotel lounge bar with 100 people and a gig at an outdoor restaurant with 100 people as well, I can say that they are loud enough and the comments from the people were all very good about how crisp clear they sound and that they feel very pleasant to their ears!
At first I used them at the "flat" setting but then I tried at "anti-feedback" and I keep them there because my mic is not making any noise.
The only negative I can think of, is that on the top speaker, there is not a tightening bolt or something to keep it steady and there is a wobble. I knew this issue before I got them, from other reviews referred on this, so I placed some adhesive paper tape on the top of the pole and problem solved.
(In my opinion, get Thomann's cover set for 602's, they are great and the don't cost as much as half of a 602 unit like the original Db covers do!).
(Update after 6 months of daily use): Everything works great, except the speak-on cable which occasionally stops the sound from the top speaker. I suggest a Cordial speak-on cable as a spare cable.

M
Excellent little compact PA system!
Mark886 02.11.2016
I purchased one of these on an amazing 50% off offer and i am really glad I did! I now have a second one on the way and am over the moon with both the power and sound quality these little tower systems produce. Very good resistance to feedback, astonishing bass from the little 10 inch sub and clear highs from that 4 way top. Like all of these types of system, it lacks slightly in the mid range, but overall, it has crisp sound and plenty of punch!

I have heard many of these types of system in the past, however, this one is up with the best of them, especially for the price! I am not sure how long the offer will last, but even at the full price, this is not a bad choice! The sub is a little heavy, but it is only 14kg (thomann have it at 16) and the top speaker is very light. It comes complete with a sub pole to mount the top and a cable to connect the two parts.

Around the back we have 1 xlr jack combo, with a switch, to choose line input, or mic. Plus a second channel with stereo rca connections, quick and easy to add an rca to jack lead for your tablet or phone. We have tried the one system with recorded dj music and live vocals with guitar and it performed very well. Do not hesitate, this will do the job and you can buy two for the price of the equivalent!
