This is my first penambuco bow and even though I do not have any experience with them (this is my first one) I found that this bow did not live up to my expectations. I also have a Dopler D10 for 130 Euros (made of Brazil wood), which looks virtually identical to it in almost every way, including the appearance of the wood and the length of the silver wire wrap and leather wrap. The Gotz Pernambuco bow that I received also does not look like either the pic of it in the Gotz web site nor in the Thomann page. There is a slight misalignment on the frog side of the leather wrapping. It is a small detail and aesthetic, but it is there and I think should not be.

In blind playing tests I found that both bows were extremely similar in sound and I had a hard time distinguishing between them. Sometimes I preferred one and other times I preferred the other. At times the Gotz Pernambuco sounded maybe a bit clearer and it is clearly better at bouncing the bow off the strings. Aside from that it is difficult for me to justify the enormous price difference. I have to stress that this is my first Pernambuco bow so maybe they are all like that, but I expected more of a difference in sound considering the huge price premium and how much genuine Pernambuco is coveted. In sum, a disappointment for me at least from my perspective.
