Best mid priced electric 12 string!
reviewer871 07.11.2025
I've previously owned an electric 12 string and regretted selling it some years ago, so i've been looking for one for some time. After watching lots of Youtube videos I'd decided to go for a Danelectro 59 Vintage 12 as was really after that super jangly 12 string sound, but didn't want to spend large amounts on a Rickenbacker, when I may only use the 12 string every now and again. When ordering the Vintage DC 59 12 I happened to notice this model and decided to order it as well and try both out. So glad I did! I ended up keeping this and returning the Vintage DC 59 as this one felt much better quality, just sounded better, was much more versatile with sound and looks more stunning in my opinion. The DC vintage 59 basically had 2 sounds both bright and jangly and quite this. It also liked quite cheep up close, where as this didn't. This can go from a more transparent, almost acoustic like sound with the P90, to ultra jangly bridge single lipstick pickup (with the tone pull pot out), to double lipstick "humbucker" which is still jangly put just slightly more rounded. You don't appreciate this from the photo's but it is a stunning glass black. The blade switch also feels better quality than the other Dano 12's. I also didn't like the look of the Danelectro 59X12 vintage with the pickguards and different colour combination, which looked a bit cheap and "kitsch" to me. This one without the pickguard and with the F hole, looks way more classy! This feels slightly more substantial than the DC 59 vintage model, like the body has more support and durability than the masonite model. I can't prove that, but having them both together side by side it is more apparent. It's still fairly lightweight, but feels more solid. The tuners on this are also great and holding tune fine (i expected to have to change them at this price point, but no need!). If you're considering a Dano 12 string I would definitely recommend trying this model!

Cooles Teil!
