Excellent coverage of rhythms around the world

What's in the package?

Book - Good quality printing and paper. Spiral bound so it lies flat on your music stand. CD of all exercises, DVD

Quality:

Very high . The DVD visuals were clear as was the sound, although its a little strange at first to see a male presenter with a woman's voice when you select the English version of the DVD.

Features:

Comprehensive; many rhythms. simple to complex, all on the CD to listen to and in the book notated. Book gives the track references for the CD.

Many hand percussion drums etc are demonstrated on the DVD, the closing section of ensemble playing (3 tracks) is good featuring split screen sections so you can see as well as hear the different instruments.

Pace is slow enough to grasp what is being shown you.

This is a package for the absolute beginner to more advanced players, and references for further listening and reading are included in the book. I think the advice given at the very end of the DVD is good:- take it slow to learn the rhythms, and above all HAVE FUN!!

My favourites:

The sections demonstrating the Riq (oriental tambourine) and the Barakka. Also the rhythms Karachi and Balladi are demonstrated on several of the instruments. NB: the rhythms can be played on all the range of instruments featured in this package.
