A little wonder

The Freeze pedal was a real discovery for me. It's a very simple pedal with only one feature (usable in three different modes) but you like that feature, you're going to absolutely love this pedal.
You will like it if:
a) You like to create textured/ambient sounds for your songs. The chime-like frozen sustain you can make is great for creating a bed of sound for songs. Alternatively, freezing a single distorted note can add some real grit if that's what you're looking for.
b) You like to indulge a bit in David Gilmoresque solos. Just freeze a single chord and then start soloing over it like there's no tomorrow. You can practically play the first 5 minutes of Shine on you crazy diamond by yourself with a freeze pedal (and an ebow for the first bit).

It's a Electro Harmonix pedal so you can expect the quality to be good. It's very light but feels solid enough. I've found I only end up using two modes (latch and slow decay). The frozen sound you get is very good and clean, chime-like for trebley sounds and droning for the lower notes, though it works best without distortion/OD as too much OD will make it sound too muddy/heavy.

Cool trick I discovered recently: Freeze a note/chord, then activate a pedal with reverse delay on it and play around with the delay/feedback time.

A Cool Breeze

I use this for a Bass guitar and learn the modes of in jazz music.

It really have to build the sound up easily and understand the harmony better.

pros
Good for live and learning, build like a tank

cons
in these days, I think this can be replaced for an apps easily, for this price to buy one pedel with one function....think that for yourself.

From unobtrusive to radical, the Freeze is a gadget that rouses innovative playing without being gimmicky. The execution conceivable outcomes?from filling stripped space in a band game plan to in-your-face freakouts?are fascinating. Be that as it may, regardless of the possibility that you don't expect to record or play live with the Freeze, you'll discover it's an extraordinary device for forming music and amicability without anyone else's input. EHX has executed this impact with such straightforwardness', will undoubtedly speak to players and tweakers of all sorts and capacities

Does the job

Pros:
- function
- build quality

Cons:
- loud footswitch

Not much to say here; the Freeze does one thing and it does it well. Use it in the intended way to augment your music, or try and use it the wrong way to create some interesting noises. The three modes are useful and build quality is solid as usual from EHX.

One thing to note if you are not familiar with it is that it has the noisy clicky EHX footswitch. When playing something quiet or solo (which the pedal is great for), the switch noise is pretty loud. The switch is easy to replace though.

Great for expanding crativity or just practicing over a chord
MDOW 02.03.2024
As a bass player who tries to explore different textures and ambients i find this pedal a great acquisition. Beeing in a instrumental rock/prog trio, It allows me to easily add another layer of textures and play over it, engaging and disengaging the effect whenever its needed. Also a great tool to practive scales or exploring melodies over chords.
