Great 10" speaker
Slim 30.07.2018
I was looking for an alternative for my Princeton Reverb combo. As I've read, Eminence Legend is their version of old USA made Jensens.

Small size speakers are usually thought of as weak and thin sounding. I happen to own one original '65 8 inch Jensen C8R (US made), which is incredible, really sounds big and you can forget it's size. And I also have one new C10R, which is so thin and especially horrible with distortion/drive (but really open sounding as long as you don't exceed mild overdrive).

In search for a good replacement for Princeton's 10", I used ToneTubby 40/40 hemp cone ceramic speaker. Excellent tone and suited Princeton nicely. But I was looking for something a little quieter and lighter (TT ceramic weighs 4.8 kg !!, Legend 1028K is just 1.250 kg ), to keep the ideal sized combo amp in comfortable weight. If you gig around, you'll get the point.

The Eminence Legend 1028K turns out to be perfect replacement. It sounds just so similat to TT (to my big surprise) and maybe has a little more vintage edge to it. It handles pedals really well, cuts through the band. Important mid frequencies are in balance, it's clear and bright, but not brittle, good low end, not muddy at all. And straight out of the box, with no break in time.

If you are looking for good 10" speaker for smaller combos and you like vintage style amps, I strongly suggest the 1028K. I was thinking about it for a very long time and regret that I did not make this purchase sooner. Over years I collected many speakers, including original '60 P12R and '65 C8R and played many new that suppose to be the same speakers. But they are nothing alike. Eminence Legend 1028K has that similar vibe as I hear from the original old spekers that I have. But without of the risk of getting a faulty, dead or worn out old speaker.

1028K is great speaker (and cheap!).

I got the 1028K speaker to replace my reissue Jensen C10Q in a Yerasov GTA-15 amp. I liked the Jensen, but I wanted to try something new. The 1028K sounds great, and added warmth, perhaps at the expense of a little bit of top end compared to the Jensen. Can definitely recommend it for Fender-y clean amps, especially if you think your sound is a bit bright.

Bought this together with Eminence 1058. Took some time to break in but after they break in they sound fantastic! I run them in 2x10 combination in my Vibroverb 63 RI.

I used it to replace the tired Alnico CTS speakers on my '73 Fender Super Reverb. It sounds like the CTS but better! Highly recommended.
