A
Very good and versatile amp from Engl
Anonymous 21.09.2016
It's my main amp at band rehearsals.
It replaced JVM and put him at second place at once.

We play mainly hard rock and heavy metal.
It is good choice for such stuff, combination of excellent cleans with modern metal sound.
Matched with good guitar and 4x12 cabinet spreads out total devastation to the audience :)

I was always very anxious how Engl will do the work.
I'm a big fan of Marshall amps but this one fits better my music tastes.
Huge distorted sound and high clarity for soloing.
Sounds more deeply at low end than Marshall's.
It is massive difference with sound character.

What to say about cons?
Maybe merged controls for clean/overdrive chanels.
But anyhow overal tone is very good.
It's much easier to find good sound out of it than with JVM.

Build as a tank, with a few good improvements comparing to other amp-maker brands. Noise gate on board, valves selfcheck diodes informing about possible malfunction, robust foot-switch and several options what can be set as ON/OFF functions.

Price for this amp isn't very low but when take all pros and cons one by one there is no doubt that you are getting excellent product with decent money.

I'm honestly positively surprised how good it is in overall.
Maybe because it fits better to music style we developed. We are not "cover band" and we do not need to copy sound of our let's say "competitors" :)

Cheers
Marek

BUILT LIKE A GERMAN PATHER TANK.
G.Rahul 24.03.2020
I have own 2 high gain amps,6505+,Randall RD-100 both are amazing amps in their prospects for Modern Metal which i play.
Never own a ENGL,just played on music shops and friend house,but i have always been fan how they sound everytime iplayed.
This is my 3rd amp.
JEEEEZZ,The sound that delivers is BOOOM!F******** AUTHENTIC GERMAN SOUND!!!!!!!
Ball crushing mids!!which are they know for....
Classic looking chassis ,simple in your face layout with noise gate adapted on back side which works well but i suggest to use additional noise gate.
One last thing It sound diffrent than British or American lamp amps.
If you are metal guy and who hooks more on lamps amps, This is best buy....Go for it...
WORTH OF MONEY !!!

K
High gain metal monster
Krankenstein 22.03.2023
This amp has famous metal tones for a reason and probably the most aggressive among the all ENGL amps. It's well compressed and saturated, preserves its good high gain tones at lower volumes. Low end and highs are good to go, maybe it could have stronger mids but it has its own thing going on. Good when it's boosted, also good when it's not boosted, all up to your taste and style. It reacts perfectly to the palm mutes. Cleans are surprisingly nice for a high gain metal amp. It has cool features like built-in noise gate, mid boost, power tube monitor etc.

Cons: Shared eq as others mentioned. Got 4 stars because of that. For more versatility check Powerball II, it has similar voicing (but not same)

Few suggestions: It may sound harsh in the beginning with the new cab and stuff, as the tubes are fresh and the speakers need to be softened. Try with older cabs if it's possible. Cranking the volume and all EQ up would help for speakers to open up. For better lower volumes pass 12 o'clock with the lead volume and keep the master volume down to your limits. Don't be afraid to use eq knobs in extreme settings. Adjust presence again when the volume level has changed.

SB
Excellent amp.
Sami B 21.10.2022
I've only had this amp for a few days at the time of writing, but it is a fantastic sounding amp.
Positives;
-Really tight low end. Great for lower tunings and djent
-Versatile sound. As stated before, this sounds great for stuff like djent all the way to Dimebag-esque shredding. It also comes with a clean tone that is surprisingly good for a metal amp, although you probably wouldn't want to use this as your main amp if you predominantly play clean.
-Lots of features. It comes with a noise gate, an FX loop, clean & lead channels, a mid boost, a bottom boost and a bright boost.

Cons;
-Scooped tone. I don't have a problem with this because I'm a big fan of 90s shred metal, but I know quite a lot of people really don't like scooped mids. Even with mids cranked and the mid boost active, the amp will still sound quite scooped.
-Other than that, there aren't really any cons.

Conclusion;
Great amp for shredding, djent and every metal genre in-between, and it even comes with a surprisingly good clean tone. Lots of features. Looks pretty nice too. Very good amp.
