They're good, but...
Christian748 27.05.2014
I can't really put my finger on cobalt stings (excuse the pun). I wanted to like them and thought "hey, it would be cool to jump on to a new tonal bandwagon before they're common as mud". Unfortunately they just never really did it for me and I have found myself returning to nickel wound strings to put the smile back on my face.

It's not that the strings sound bad (far from it), they just seem to lose a bit of the twang of steel or nickel strings, especially as they age. The 3rd string in particular (the .022) is the giveaway as it sounds a touch dull/dead in comparison to your typical nickel wound version. Good for my back pocket too, as these strings cost a pretty penny given they are not subjected to any form of additional processing like half-rounds or flat-wounds.

Perfect for Drop C
Colin616 28.08.2014
I bought these to put on my Charvel St Custom which is tuned to D standard/Drop C. I used to use 10-52 strings, but found that thy were a little light on the low end and the tuning would fluctuate when I played hard. With these 11-54 strings, the tuning is much more stable, even when I drop the 6th string down to low A. The tone is much better aswell, as it tends to be with a heavier guage.
Compared to the nickel-steel version of this set, the tone is a bit brighter, which is certainly useful considering that I am tuned quite low.
If you are looking for more brightness in a low tuning, you should give these a try.

The only negative is that they only last the same length of time as nickel-steel strings, which are about half he price.

great string, great durability but...

... in my opinion this strings generate too strong signal (in case of amp modelling). I had to scrub the pickups and reduce the input signal to achive acceptable sound.
