Auf der Suche nach einer bezahlbaren Alternative zur MX-220 bin ich auf diese „ESP LTD EX-200 Olympic White“ gestoßen. Zwar sind ihre Ecken deutlich spitzer, aber insgesamt würde ein „More Beer“ oder „Papa Het“ Aufkleber genauso wunderbar dazu passen wie zu den ESP-Modellen von Herrn Hetfield.
Die Gitarre ist schön leicht und lässt sich mit dem für ESP/LTD typischen Halsprofil wunderbar spielen. Allerdings ist sie für mich nicht optimal ausbalanciert: Durch eine gewisse Kopflastigkeit wird das Spielen im Vergleich zu dem Spielen auf meiner LTD Vulture (Flying V) für mich persönlich doch komplizierter, wenn ich sie im Stehen spiele. Profis mag das nicht weiter stören.
Die Tonabnehmer sind keine EMGs, bieten m.E. aber für das Geld dennoch einen satten Output. Wer den EMG-Sound haben will, kann ja ein paar Scheine drauflegen und z.B. die „ ESP LTD EX-Black Metal Black Satin“ kaufen.
Alles in allem befriedigt die Klampfe mein persönliches Bedürfnis, einen bezahlbaren Explorer in Gedenken an die wohl beste Schaffenszeit von Metallica zuhause zu haben.
