It's not for everyone, but it's exactly the head I want for the sound and feel I want. Rock, country, it's very versatile. It's robust, is well made, it's Evans and just with that you can't go wrong.

I bought it for my steel snare (Pearl Chad Smith signature), and boy, does it deliver. It lets the snare sing, without letting the overtones become obnoxious and the crack is perfect, it sounds incredible both recorded and in live situations. I only play it tuned medium/high so i can't comment on lower tunings. If you have a metal snare and you want that crack with a short sustain and controlled harmonics, give it a try.

Excellent head with good response, not sure what the holes do, but they seem to do something, another quality Evans product, will try another next time, just to see if there's something better.

Excellent quality for such a low price. Tune your snare tightly and it delivers a solid crack with subtle and subdued overtones. 5/5
