I mounted this head on my Mapex Armory 14" floor tom.
The product looks beautiful with the aquamarine colour of my drumset and, according to my taste, it sounds sweet. It delivers that typical '70s/'80s classic rock and hard rock sound, which are the genres I mainly play (still does great for metal since it's another genre I sometimes play and the heads have a perfect dark tone).
I've had it for a long time now and still looks great, no doubt it's a quality product that offers resistance accompanied by a great dark tone if loose (as I like to keep them).
I would choose it for hard and heavy styles, not for jazz or softer genres (even if it still does the job just fine).

Looks Great Sounds Good
Anonymous 06.08.2015
I bought this head for aesthetic purposes because it looks really really cool, especially on a blonde kit! However, as cool as it may look, it does not sound as good as it looks. That's not to say it is not a good drum head. They are very easy to tune and can work very well if tuned in a mid-high range, however, if you want your toms to sound deep and full I would suggest clear Evans EC2's. I like my toms to be quite low and I have struggled to achieve this with these heads, particularly with bigger drums. In terms of durability, the heads are excellent and will definitely last a heavy hitter. If you like your toms to have great warmth and less attack then I would suggest buying these.

Very specific and interesting sound...
Anonymous 05.12.2014
I bought these heads for a very specific project I was working on. The fact that they look super cool is just a happy and welcome bonus. They offer a very fat, wet sound on toms that can give you great scope for exploring different recording techniques. Or if you just want to get a wet sounding head with loads of low end presence and just about enough punch to get by. It certainly won't be to everyone's taste but it's a very interesting sound, worth exploring. As an additional bonus they are extraordinarily easy to tune, and (as long as you're not a really heavy hitter) to keep in tune.

no complaints, after all these years they still sound exactly the same.
