Fender American Vintage II series - what we've been waiting for?

I placed an order here at Thomann as soon as I saw the YouTube video by Kris and Guillaume! It looked very tempting and I knew it's going to be sold out fast! and boy I was right! I was undecided between the Fiesta Red and the Olympic White but went with the Olympic White at the end.

These days Thomann has issues/delays with their dispatching but I got the package within three days from Germany to Sweden anyways.

I was really happy with the guitar when I opened the package! Fantastic looks! Great playability! The nitro lacquer not only looked good but also smelled good together with the case! The lacquered neck didn't bother my playing much to be honest!

Everything was great until I noticed a wood imperfection and dent on the rosewood fretboard! That ruined it all for me! I mean at this price range I cannot imagine how it has passed Fender and Thomann quality control! I had no choice but to apply for a return through Thomann and unfortunately by that time it was already sold out and I couldn't get a replacement!

I have been a long term customer with Thomann and had only good experience with them so far but for this one I can't help but to be pissed! I mean why wouldn't you check the guitar before sending it? Your competition are photographing each single guitar and weighing them so people can buy the individual guitar they like!

Traumgitarre

Ich habe lange gewartet auf eine Gitarre in Weiß in dieser Qualität. Traumhaftes Spielgefühl, eine top Verarbeitung und ein Sound, der keine Wünsche offen lässt bei Fans des Vintage Sounds. Ob Blues, Rock oder modernere Sounds, alles ist mit dieser Gitarre möglich. Auch die Hardware ist authentisch und qualitativ sehr hochwertig. Ich kann diese Fender Strat absolut empfehlen.

LA Strato que j'attendais

J'ai toujours adoré les instrument vintage (sans doute pour les mêmes raisons que tout le mode) mais voilà, les prix ont tendance à calmer.
J'ai eu plusieurs fois l'occasion de voir de très près des stratocaster de 1961 et dans ce coloris : la reproduction est parfaite. C'est vraiment bluffant (mon luthier, qui travaille souvent sur ces instruments m'a dit que, si elle n'était pas neuve, il y aurait cru).

Le seul bémol : la finition. J'ai attendu la mienne des mois... pour qu'elle arrive avec un éclat sur la peinture (merci le contrôle qualité Fender). Ne souhaitant pas de nouveau attendre une année, j'ai opté pour ce qu'à proposé Thomann : un beau geste commercial. Service client au top, comme d'habitude.

Pour le reste : TOUT est là. La finition nitro, le son des micros (faits avec les machines d'époque), le manche en 7.25, la couche généreuse de palissandre.

Pour les amateurs de vintage : foncez.

Het is een strat, dus de gebruikelijke features die je van een American Vintage mag verwachten. Het geluid is precies zoals je kan verwachten en speelt als een droom nadat ik ik er toch wel eea aan heb moeten doen .....

De nek zat scheef in de pocket, zo erg zelfs dat de hoge e snaar bij de 21 fret naast de hals liep ... Dus Fender en Thomann mss eerst controleren voordat jullie iets opsturen. De actie van de hoge e en b snaar was extreem hoog en nu weet ik waarom, bij bends op de 15e fret slaan de noten dood. Dus de 16e fret is iets te hoog. De intonatie was verre van perfect en de backplate is gebarsten op de hoek doordat de schroef te strak is aangedraaid.

Ik heb de hals goed in de pocket gezet zodat de snaren mooi over de toets lopen en de actie en intonatie afgesteld.

Ik had meer een beter verwacht van een €2190 gitaar, en zeker van Thomann kwaliteits controle.
