In the purest tradition

Steelstring acoustic guitar Fender CC-60S All Mahogany

For all those who associate Fender with electric guitars: Yes, Fender also manufactures acoustic guitars. And it's not a recent development either. Dating back to the 1960s, the American brand has been creating unique and exciting instruments. The CD-60S All Mahogany aligns itself with this tradition and another one: Since the early 1980s, Fender has been committed to creating quality instruments that are both suitable and affordable for beginners. The Fender CC-60S is a concert-size steel-string acoustic guitar with a transparent finish - and while its looks will certainly grab attention, its quality is evident, and its price is sensational.

Sturdy and affordable

The Fender CC-60S All Mahogany has a concert-size body, slightly smaller than a dreadnought. Constructed entirely from mahogany, it features a solid top along with a laminated back and sides. The neck is also mahogany, and the fingerboard and bridge are made of walnut, an obvious alternative to protected rosewood. Another noteworthy feature is the neck size, which at 25.3" (643mm) is slightly shorter than usual, noticeably improving playability.

A forgiving guitar

The Fender CC-60S is especially aimed at beginners or anyone wishing to start playing the guitar again. First and foremost, it catches the eye with both its appealing looks and its incredibly low price tag for an instrument of this quality - which appears to belong in a much higher price category. Furthermore, the reduced neck size will suit less experienced guitarists or those accustomed to more easy-to-handle electric guitars. The combination of a solid mahogany top and laminated body provides the best of both worlds: A sturdy construction and a dynamic sound. And what is more, the Fender CC-60S will also be more forgiving towards the odd wrong note with its warm sound!

About Fender

Fender is without doubt one of the most legendary guitar and amplifier manufacturers of all time. The company was founded in 1946 by its namesake Leo Fender († 1991), whose innovative ideas brought a breath of fresh air into the musical world. His Telecaster, Stratocaster, Precision Bass, and Jazz Bass are not only classics – they also continue to shape the styles of musicians in countless genres to this day. Timeless Fender amplifier models such as the Bassman, Twin, Deluxe, and Princeton also enjoy a stellar reputation. Besides maintaining its classic product portfolio, however, the company is also constantly developing new products that make Fender a driving force in today’s music industry.

An excellent backup instrument

Musicians looking to purchase their first guitar often have to choose between different string types. Although the Fender CC-60S All Mahogany is equipped with steel strings, which are relatively harder to press than the nylon strings frequently chosen – for this very reason – by entry-level guitarists, and additionally with the narrower fretboard that is also a feature of steel-string guitars, players who prefer the sound of an acoustic guitar with its steel strings and are prepared to wait the few days it takes to become acquainted with the instrument will no doubt be rewarded. The Fender CC-60S All Mahogany is also ideal as a second guitar after a classical guitar.

I bought this guitar for stage use, I was not really interested in how it sounded when played acoustically. I fitted an LR Baggs sound hole pickup and I'm now very pleased with it.

The guitar is nicely finished and is very well built. The neck is very comfortable and there are no problems with frets, intonation or needing truss rod adjustment.

Although I bought it to use amplified, I'm actually quite impressed when I play it purely as an acoustic guitar. It's obviously not as loud as a dreadnought, but it has a very sweet sound and is quite well balanced.

Considering Fender are not noted for their acoustic guitars, I'd be happy to recommend this guitar to anyone, beginner or professional.

Me encanta el sonido
vicente-66 28.08.2019
