I bought these to produce on and they're not too bad for the job. There is a plasticity there on the mids, sounds a bit like a can at times. I guess one can learn the speaker, but I wouldn't keep as main monitors. I do drum'n'bass and need a speaker that gets filled when there's sub playing. These do it but not to the degree I would like. I believe this is due to the ports facing back. Yep, that's it. I do have the GLM correction mic and that's not the problem (barely a difference corrected or not - my room is big) . It is the sub that could be a good compliment and might show as a whole new different speaker system altogether. Mind you the speaker contains DACs ( haven't used them as of yet - I would have to lower the volume using the GLM software... )

Ich nutze die 8340 daheim zum "schnöden" Musikhören. Abhördistanz etwa 2 Meter, Basisbreite etwa 1,8 Meter, der Raum ist nicht übermäßig optimiert.
Die beiden Genelec sind jetzt etwas eingespielt. Davor hängen ein AVM CS 2.2, eine AVM P30 für Phono, ein VPI Scout II mit Goldring Elite und eine Isotek Sub GII für die Stromversorgung.
Gegenüber der vorherigen Passivkette ist die Genelec anders, ganz anders. Oberflächlich "langweiliger". Es ist alles da, Höhen, Mitten, Bass, es passt auch alles, aber der klassische "Hey ich bin teures HiFi-Equipment"-Anmachfaktor fehlt. Das muss kein Nachteil sein.
Die Genelec spielt, was die Aufnahme hergibt, fertig. Ich mag das.
Auch die Raumabbildung ist eher kompakt und etwas nach vorne als riesig, holografisch und tief nach hinten als gäbe es nirgendwo Wände. Das ist realistisch aber in seiner Präzision nicht jedermanns Sache. Eine besondere Vorliebe für bestimmte Musikrichtungen gibt es nicht, es wird gespielt und wer sich darauf einlässt kann eine wahnsinnige Präzision genießen und ebenso eine Dynamik die einen in den Sessel drücken kann. Falls man unterhalb von 100 Hz eine Raummode hat, wird die von der 8340 garantiert angeregt und auch sonst ist sie realistisch bis zu den angegeben 45Hz bei -1,5 dB und mit ordentlich Druck, wenn man das wünscht.
Wer in eher kleineren Räumen einen Lautsprecher sucht der alles kann, aber maximalen "no nonsense"-Faktor hat, der ist hier gut aufgehoben.
Die RAW-Oberfläche vom Aluminiumgehäuse finde ich übrigens sehr gelungen, der graue Lack ist mir etwas zu langweilig.
Hingestellt habe ich die beiden mit dem Genelec-Stativ, dem Z8040 Adapter auf die Isopods und dazu das GLM-Einmesssystem. Letzteres ist noch nicht eingesetzt, aber "out of the box" ist die Performance schon sehr überzeugend.

Klar und kraftvoll. Mehr Sound braucht kein Mensch.

Absolut klarer cleaner transparenter Sound mit genug Druck wenn man will. Beim Einmessen ist evtl. etwas Geduld gefragt aber die Mühe lohnt sich auf jeden Fall. Hab bisher noch nichts besseres gehört und bin mit den 8340 am Ende meiner Suche "angekommen".
