A simple tool but priceless. It would have taken me hours to fiddle about, with out it.
If your sound post has fallen in....get one quick!

BB
VITAL FOR DOUBLE BASS
Bruce Boogie 12.10.2024
I bought a dog house bass for there Rock'n'Roll band that I was in.
So when I got it I was told to buy a Soundpost Setter Double Bass.
I was so pleased I did ! ! !
On a crowded stage gig someone knocked it over ~ the bridge went down and the soundest made a lovely rattle inside the bass.
I had done my homework, but had never set the bridge and sound post up before. I played electric bass in set one and spend the break in maintenance mode.
The bridge went up on slack strings and then post poking through the f hole. The post had been marked to show the correct rotation, so that helped.
Wiggle and jiggle I got the post up and tuned up. We were all pleased to have the big bass back on stage.
If you are a gigging double bass player this essential kit.

Gewa Soundpost Setter Bass
Anonymous 31.03.2017
As I play double bass for a living, so mostly everyday, my instrument's soundpost can get jolted out of position, or be affected by weather.

The Gewa soundpost setter is perfect designed to be inserted into the soundhole to tap the soundpost to the desired position.

Pros: it is rubber coated as not to scrape the varnish on the table.

Cons: the tapping end could be just slightly heavier for a more precise tap. But most luthiers simply add weight to the tip.

I would recommend this to anyone

S
very useful tool

this is a well crafted and beautiful tool to use. If you have a double bass, this can save your skin if your sound post falls during transportation etc. It is very useful for adjusting tone on your instrument.
