A bit heavy, but man....
Edgar Blackdagger 06.12.2020
I bought 2 of those for my studio, I'm not a real drummer but I have put some time into it and I'm pretty good for "not a drummer".
So, when I installed the beater to test it against my typical felt beater I noticed a weight change, but it was more of a general slower reaction time particularly when leaving my foot off the pedal, so I think my old pedal spring is ready to retire.
Now the sound...wow....
It does make you hit it a bit harder (which adds a lot of "umph") but it generally boosted the attack and depth of my 22" concert bass drum making it sound like a lower tuned 24".
I do have a very weird bass drum setup but I think that beater will make most bass drums punchier, heavier and louder, just make sure you place it in the right height and with maybe a stiffer spring.

I Wood never look back!

used hard felt and plastic beaters since I started playing. but i could never get the phat but focused bass drum sound i wanted, i picked up a vintage cork beater and loved it but i had to retire it as it was a bit to old and battered. I searched for the next material and thought why not wood? turned out i made the right decision and its exactly the sound I wanted.

Similar to plastic beater

This is coming from a sound guy, not a drummer. So, to my non-drummer ear, the sound is very close, slightly fatter maybe. Mind you, just as with the plastic ones, if you like to bury the beater you will get some frustrating off-notes.

It's weighty, but still has balance
Animale 14.08.2020
I immediately tried this on my Trick Dominator pedal, which took some time (for me) with the original beater to come to a favorite adjustment.

It played well right away, without a beater weight.
But that's also the case with other beaters, so that underlines again having a good setting on your pedal (at least the Dominator), pays off using other beaters.

And you don't want beater weights on this beater, because it's heavy. Over 90 grams.
It will give you the loudest of attacks of all kind of beaters, but I just put this on at home to train with more weight.

And it's cheap.
