Humbucker Pickup

Gibson counts the P490 pickups as modern classics, and that is also a great sound description for this well-known part of many modern Gibson guitars. The starting point was the legendary PAF (now available as Classic 57); this one has a bit more upper middle to make it more powerful. Still, with the Alnico 2 magnet, the typical singing sound is always guaranteed. The T version of the P490 has slightly more output power than the T, and is thus ideally suited for the bridge position.

Wonderful bell-like sounds without sludge - the P490 is not a screamer; he sings beauitufully! Comes in chrome-plated cap.

Great pickup

I wanted no hot pickup with Alnico II for bluesy sound. Yes, it sounded like I expected for the blues. And also great for high gain, the sound even seemed better than the 498T.

Upgraded Pick Ups

Installed a set of Gibson 490 R and T Pick ups into my Epiphone 335 Dot, service from Thomann was tops as usual. Pick ups sound amazing and really breathe new life into the guitar. Amazing variety of tones, they clean up really well and have a bell like chime at times. Highly recommended.

Made a great replacement for the Bill Lawrence original bridge pickup on my 1989 Les Paul which died many years ago, I originally replaced it with a Seymour Duncan Custom but decided to return the guitar to as near original as possible, sounds just like a good Gibson humbucker should.
