A vintage-style single cut

front of the electric guitar Harley Benton SC-450Plus GT Vintage Series

Harley Benton has always been known for offering top-quality instruments for musicians on a budget. The Harley Benton SC-450Plus GT is no exception and comes with the typical "single-cut" looks - complete with a solid mahogany body and a maple top with a high-gloss "Gold Top" finish: An absolute eye-catcher! Two humbucking Roswell pickups with chrome covers provide a warm and powerful sound with plenty of growl. Beginners in particular thus have the perfect opportunity to buy an affordable guitar with an iconic look and vintage sound.

Classic looks with modern features

A body made from tried-and-tested mahogany and a set neck made from okume form the basis for this single-cut model. The two Roswell LAF AlNiCo-5 humbuckers are triggered by a three-way switch and deliver the powerful vintage sound you would expect from this type of guitar. The wide range of tonal options is completed by two volume controls with a push/pull function for single coil operation and two tone controls for dialling in your preferred tone. The narrow C-profile of the neck and its flat body joint provide a pleasant playing feel all the way to the upper register. The laurel fingerboard with its 12" radius and trapezoid inlays is also pleasantly flat and allows fast playing for modern techniques. The DLX Kluson-style machine heads are a truly classic touch and, in combination with the chrome-plated DLX hardware, keep the guitar reliably in tune.

For beginners and single-cut fans on a budget

With its low price, the Harley Benton SC-450Plus GT is aimed primarily at beginners who have to get by on a small budget - after all, a successful start also requires an amplifier, which also has to be paid for somehow. In return, you get a feature-packed guitar and the feel of an authentic SC-style model, so that you can emulate the sound and look of your idols and start your own sessions. However, it is not only the vintage sound and the classic look that make it appealing; the more modern features - such as the neck's slim profile and flat body joint - also make for a pleasant start. In addition, the tonal flexibility provided by the splittable humbuckers also makes the guitar interesting for single-cut fans who are still looking for a second instrument or backup at an affordable price.

About Harley Benton

Since 1998, the Harley Benton brand has been catering for the needs of numerous guitarists and bassists. In addition to an extensive range of stringed instruments, Thomann's house brand also offers a wide choice of amplifiers, speakers, effect pedals, and other accessories. In total, the range includes over 1,500 products. Built by established names in the industry, all Harley Benton products combine quality and reliability at attractive and affordable prices. The continuous expansion of the range ensures that Harley Benton always provides new, exciting, and innovative products that keep players perfectly in tune with the musical world, day after day.

Flexible Rock sounds thanks to splittable humbuckers

A single-cut guitar like the Harley Benton SC-450Plus GT feels especially at home in Rock music thanks to its two powerful humbuckers. In particular, all of those classic vintage sounds with a lot of sustain can be produced with this guitar. The humbuckers' coil split function makes the guitar even more flexible. Genres like Jazz, Country, and Reggae can also be tackled, as well as a variety of softer sounds - partly thanks to the range of settings available via the two volume and tone pots. This guitar can thus also be used as a flexible and inexpensive backup on stage. In addition, the SC-450Plus can be played for a long time on stage and in the rehearsal room, because it is relatively light despite the solid mahogany body - a feature that might appeal to beginners as well as to most other single-cut fans.

well first off, Its more like a coppertop then gold, the machine heads are snot green. Ipicked it up to examine it just to check and I cant find a blemish anywhere, this thing is perfect. No mis matched binding no runs in the paint,no sharp frets this thing is perfect. Quality wise This guitar is as good visually as some of my other guitars that cost nearly ten times the price. Its heavy, just like the model its based upon..Plugging it in It sounds and does everything its meant to do,I play blues /rock usually no bass hardly any treble lots of reverb and high volume. Rapidly becoming one of my favourite guitars.Love it.

G
A little disappointed
George77 07.05.2023
Out of the box the guitar looks gorgeous no flaws in the finish it weighs 3.7kg sounds great the volume and tone knobs work the way they should very smooth and the toggle switch works well feels good too. Now comes the disappointment the guitar out of the box came with high action the frets needed polishing. Polished the frets lowered the action BUT the neck was bowed watched YouTube how to straighten the neck did that all good so far then I lowered the action I get the action to where I like it and start to check for fret buzz I start at the high E string and work my way down the neck note for note all good up until I get to the low E string start to work my way down all is good until I get the 9th fret bang fret buzz but the funny thing is that it’s only the 9th fret on the low E everything else is good so I have to rise the action on the low e side to the stage where I it’s not comfortable for me to play it’s playable don’t get me wrong but I would rather the action lower. I’ll take it to luthier friend to see it if the guitar can be fixed with no extra cost I’ll keep it for sure if not it’s going back

B
Spectacular Value for Money!
BigTallTim 25.03.2023
I genuinely wasn't expecting this guitar to look or sound anything like as good as it does, but it is superb! The sound - especially with coil taps available on both pickups, and the fact that it has 2 volumes and 2 tones, makes this a real workhorse for the studio, and at the price an absolute must have! Seriously guys - this is exceptional!

Love this for many reasons
AndyMack 29.05.2023
I was concerned about this guitar when I first saw the advert on Facebook. "Way too cheap", I thought. But, since I took possession and played it, I am so surprised and impressed at the quality of the sound, feel, look etc, that it has become my favourite guitar.
My only concern is the lack of quality with the Tuning Machine Heads and the fact I am constantly having to re-tune...
I have now had to buy new Tuning Machine Heads and replace the originals. My thoughts would be, install better at the manufacturing stage and then raise the price accordingly. On the whole though, a wonderful budget guitar for those with only limited funds.
