Hohner Marine Band Soloist 364/24

I have had this harmonica for a few years now and I have played it regularly. I wanted this particular one because I wanted to be able to play traditional folk solos. Because it lets you play complete major scales, this is perfectly doable. The sound is loud and clear, quite bright, and playing individual notes is fairly easy with a bit of practice. It also harmonizes well with a steel stringed guitar. It's been banged around a lot by my kid and to this day does not have a mark on it. I have come to believe it to be indestructible. I would warmly recommend this instrument to anyone who wants to play harmonica solos.

Le Marine Band Soloist est un harmonica qui possède plus de notes que le traditionnel Marine Band. Il est donc très pratique pour le jeu solo, comme son nom l'indique.
En pratique, il couvre toute les notes de la gamme diatonique en Do sur plusieurs octaves. Afin d'obtenir les notes intermédiaires avec la technique de bending, cela se passe bien sauf sur quelques notes qui demeurent très difficiles (voire impossible) à obtenir quand on n'est pas professionnel. De mémoire, il me semble que le sib du milieu est très difficile à obtenir. Mais y'a t-il un harmonica diatonique de ce type chez les concurrents qui est plus aisé et avec ce son ??
Pour les fous du bending, il y aussi un autre modèle, le XB-40, mais attention, le son n'est pas du tout le même (les lames sont plus épaisses et l'harmonica bien plus gros aussi). La technologie utilisée n'a rien à voir avec le Marine Band.

Notons tout de même que ce Marine Band Soloist est plus épais que ses confrères "standards". Cela surprend au départ au niveau des lèvres pour les habitués du modèle ordinaire, mais on s'y fait.
Un bon harmonica, en résumé, avec quelques difficultés de jeu, mais cela fait partie de ce type d'instrument.

Dachte, dass ich die Harp auspacke und loslege. Denkste! Also mit dem Instrument bin ich grundsätzlich zufrieden, nur verstehe ich nicht, warum man bei einer neuen Harp etwas nacharbeiten muss. (?Ansprache?) Ich spiele schon ein paar Tage chromatisch als auch diatonisch, umso mehr war ich überrascht, dass ich mit der Soloist kurze Anlaufschwierigkeiten hatte. Der Grund war der Lochabstand, größer als die Diatonischen und anders als die Chromonica. Für einfache Schlager und Volksmelodien eine sehr gute Alternative in C-Dur. Habe den Kauf in keiner Weise bereut und spiele sehr gerne mit der Soloist!

Die Solist war für mich ein Experiment, da ich eigentlich hauptsächlich mit chromatischen Mundharmonikas spiele. Da wollte ich ein unempfindliches Instrument aber mit chromatischem Aufbau. Da bleibt nicht viel übrig. Die Hohner Solist ist ziemlich breit im Mund aber das ist Gewöhnungssache. Ansonsten spielt sie sich gut.

Die Ansprache ist auch okay und der Sound ist wie bei normalen Durchschnitts-Bluesharps. Da ich auch einige Marine Band Deluxe habe ist mir schon ein Qualitätsunterschied aufgefallen. Aber das Instrument ist schon zu empfehlen wenn man mal ausprobieren möchte wie man mit chromatischem Aufbau spielt oder wenn man ein solo gestimmtes unempfindliches Instrument für das Fest im Freien sucht.
