I have owned or tried other similar instruments, often more expensive, but all with clear strengths and weaknesses. The Kaerntnerland Edelholz Birke is by far the best compromise for an intermediate player like me in terms of value for money, size, weight, sound quality, sheer physical ease of playing and overall pleasure of ownership. Oh, and it's a nice-looking piece of kit!
