The question is: Is this better than the THX version?
The answer is, I don't know.

However, from pictures of the THX they look the same except for the ball head.
The big upgrade of the THZ model is the ability to add a slider that is bought separately and not available from Thoman.

If I had to recommend one I'd go with the THX since it's cheaper and seems to be on the same level unless you are looking to upgrade with the slider later on.
Overall, it's a very good tripod and I will try to keep the post updated on the condition if possible.
