With the recommended 500k pots the pickups sound like true single coils withaout any hum. They retain a lot of treble and have the tele-twang.
I prefer using them with with 250k pots. Like that with the tone on 10 they still have lots of treble and twang. Rolling off the tone, changes their character and darkens them giving the bridge a p90-like tone with a percussive character.
