Mollenhauer 2546K Canta Bass Recorder

I use the Mollenhauer 2546K Canta Bass in a small recorder ensemble, mostly for playing duets and quartets. I also have a Canta Soprano, Alto, Knick Comfort Tenor and Knick Great Bass. It is a good series of satisfying recorders.
The instrument is good to look at and is nicely put together. The case is an excellent fit and neither too bulky nor too heavy.
The sound response is good and the instrument is not difficult to play. The windway tends to clog with water very quickly, much more so than any of the three plastic basses I played formerly (an Aulos bocal-blown and two different Yamaha Knick instruments). This is a disadvantage in a long piece, as one needs to clear out the water before the instrument stops altogether! The sound is a little more "husky" than I had expected and I am wondering whether to return the instrument to Mollenhuaer for adjustment.
What I really do not like is the fact that the F / F# keys are counter intuitive: one key for F natural, both keys for F#. It is the same on my comfort knick tenor by Mollenhauer, but surprisingly the knick great bass is the other way round. Very confusing when I have to swap instruments from item to item. I can't think why Mollenhauer did that when most recorder players are used to double holes for C / C# and D / D# on sopranos and tenors, F / F# and G / G# on altos, which work in what I would call int he intuitive way, namely, you cover one hole for the # and two holes for the natural.
Overall, I am fairly happy with the recorder and can recommend it to others as good value for money.

Auch wenn ich mit Bassflöten bisher kaum Erfahrung hatte: Zusammengebaut, gespielt - wunderbar! Bisher hauptsächlich mit der Altflöte vertraut, brauchte ich ein bisschen Übung wegen der Lage und Größe der Löcher (und Klappen), konnte dann aber schnell schöne, warme Töne erzeugen. Die Leichtigkeit der Intonation hat mich überrascht und auch die Gleichmäßigkeit des Dynamikumfangs in den ersten zwei Oktaven. Damit werde ich entlohnt für den Kraftaufwand beim Zusammen- und Auseinanderbau. Die Klappen sind leichtgängig und beim Betätigen geräuschlos. Genial finde ich die Kombination von Klappe und Rollklappe am Fußstück: Das f-Loch ist automatisch verschlossen und wird durch die Rollklappe geöffnet(!), das fis-Loch muss durch die Normalklappe geschlossen werden. Erst gewöhnungsbedürftig, dann aber eine Erleicherung. Die Flöte ist leichter als ich befürchtete. Für sicheren Halt sollten Daumenstütze und Haltegurt sorgen. Der ist aber eher ein Halteband mit etwas Polsterung am Hals. Anders als auf den Fotos besteht die Rolle zum Verstellen in der Mitte aus schwarzem Kunststoff und die Länge muss leider zu oft nachjustiert werden. Da gibt es eine Möglichkeit der Verbesserung. Durch das zweiteilige Kopfstück (Mundstück und Winkel) kann man die Flöte so zusammenbauen, dass ich sie entweder senkrecht vor dem Körper oder etwas seitlich davon spielen kann. Koffer, Microfaserwischerstab, Beilagen und Fettdöschen sind zweckdienlich und Standard. Alles in allem bin ich mit dem Kauf sehr zufrieden und kann das Instrument Bass-Anfängern mit Flötenerfahrung sehr empfehlen.

Ich habe mir aus Neugier auf Bassblockflöte dieses Instrument gekauft. Der Klang von Plastikflöten sagte mir nicht zu. Deswegen habe ich mich für diese preisgünstige Holzflöte entschieden.

Ich habe Erfahrung mit Sopran- und Altblockflöte. Ich war erstaunt, wie leicht sich dieses Instrument spielen lässt. Schon nach kurzer Zeit komme ich fast genau so gut zurecht, wie mit der Altflöte. Obwohl ich noch in der Einspielphase bin kommen die hohen Töne auch schon sehr gut. Ich bin angenehm überrascht, wie schnell man das Instrument beherrscht.

Der Klang ist sehr warm und voll. Die Verarbeitung ist für diese Preisklasse erstaunlich gut. Die Mechaniken funktionieren einwandfrei. Alles in allem bin ich mit dem Kauf sehr zufrieden. Meine Neugier auf das Instrument hat sich gelohnt.
