The Mooer GE250 offers guitarists a comprehensive package of individual devices – including modelling amp, effects processor, looper, and speaker cabinet simulations based on impulse responses (IR) – in a single floorboard unit with a cool design that is suitable for both stage and studio applications. Its unique combination of versatile features and a compact, lightweight design makes this multi-effects pedal a budget-friendly alternative to similar products from competitors. The GE250 even comes with an integrated USB audio interface for quick audio recordings and Mooer's intelligent Tone Capture function, which allows the sound of an analogue amp to be captured and stored in a digital format.
The GE250 allows a comprehensive effects chain to be freely configured and stored using 70 amp models and over 180 different effects. Users are also provided with 32 IR-based cab sims and ten additional slots for uploading their favourite IRs. This compact floorboard modeller also comprises a looper with a stereo recording capacity of 70 seconds, a convenient tuner, comprehensive MIDI control options, and can even be used as a USB audio interface with a direct connection to a computer. Of course, the GE250 comes with all the required XLR outputs and a stereo FX loop that allow it to be integrated into a large variety of setups, and is particularly easy to program and use thanks to its intuitive layout, colour display, five colour-coded footswitches, and integrated expression pedal. All this is perfectly complemented by Mooer's proprietary editor software, which can be downloaded and installed on a computer free of charge.
The GE250 is the ideal solution for guitarists who are looking for an all-in-one multi-effects unit that is easy to use in the home studio, on stage, and for practice sessions, and immediately delivers excellent results thanks to numerous amp models, a wide variety of effects, and a particularly user-friendly design. On top of that, users can digitally capture the sound of their favourite amp thanks to the integrated Tone Capture function, which analyses the frequency response of an input signal (e.g. from the respective amp's preamp) and applies it to the modelled amp signal as a special EQ to authentically simulate the tonal characteristics of the original. Thanks to its compact dimensions and low weight, the GE250 will come into its own whenever a large and heavy amp is too much hassle to set up on a small stage.
Mooer is based in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and has been making products for guitarists since 2010, which include compact single pedals through to multi-effects units and compact amplifiers. The company initially produced a range of mini pedals before making perhaps its most significant breakthrough in 2016 with the sophisticated Ocean Machine delay pedal, which was designed in collaboration with Devin Townsend. Mooer's product range now also includes solutions that feature amp modelling, IR-based speaker simulation, and matching equalisers, and the company's focus remains firmly on the use of digital technology.
The Mooer GE250 is a universal tool that can be used for a large variety of applications: Its wide sonic palette and integrated audio interface are ideal for composing and songwriting at home, while useful features such as an AUX input for connecting a playback device, an onboard drum machine, a metronome, and a dedicated headphone output will ensure undisturbed and quiet practice sessions. But the GE250 will also prove its versatility on stage: In addition to delivering an entire signal chain from amp to miked-up cab, it will also effortlessly take on individual sub-tasks as a standalone effects processor, flexible cab simulator, or simply for playing through a real amp.
