I have tested the microphone pair, both with stringed instruments,(in the studio), also to record environment for the camera (Life).
In both cases the registration for given faithful to the original results, without creating significant alterations of the original signal.
Good never compressed dynamic.
The frequency response also to the measuring instrument does not detect heavy bandwidth alterations.
It appears as a correct pair of microphones, good in relation to the cost for the purchase.
The shocks mount have negative the clamps with which tighten the microphone that are not very practical for a continued Disassembly Assembly, can scratch the microphone body.

You always get what you pay for...

You always get what you pay for but with this microphone-set you get more than you would expect. In addition to a very valuable build quality you get a pair of decent sounding microphones which are great for homerecording purposes. There is almost nothing you can’t record with this microphones. I use it primarily for acoustic guitar (wonderful stereo recordings are possible), accordion (with addition of a dynamic microphone), ambience recording or every time I need a natural and uncoloured sound. On top of that there is the possibility to change the capsules to omnidirectional ones (MXL offers them on several sites on the web) which is very great (e.g. for wide AB stereo recordings) and makes the two microphones even more universally usable.

A
nice pair
Anonymous 23.02.2015
I was looking for a fairly cheap pair of microphones as I have started doing some recording work and do not have the budget to go to the more expensive mics. Having looked around I narrowed it down to a choice of two.

The deciding factor was the fact that the MXL603 come complete shock mounts and wind shields where as the others only had standard mic holders. The case is also a good selling point for protection when transporting.

The only down side is the fact that they do not come with a stereo bar, but that was easily solved.

I have tried these out to check them out prior to the recording and they pick up really well and I am happy with the purchase.

The price was also really good compared to equivalents that I had seen elsewhere so well done Thomann

Good pair of instrument mics

I've used them to record acoustic guitar, drums overhead, percussion, and misc sounds. With some mixing they can sound really good. Worth the price.
