Brilliant mic!
stephen c 27.04.2014
Rode has built it's reputation on building quality mics, targeted to a given price range and end-use.

I can only say that I consider the NT3 an absolutely stand-out performer, especially as I focus on recording (predominantly female) vocals and occasionally acoustic guitar in my home studio and I wanted a quality pencil condenser mic which could also be easily portable and mobile.

This mic is very quiet, very clear, yet smooth across the spectrum with very good sensitivity and certainly manages to produce a close female vocal with both air and body. I also have an AKG C214 which is fantastic and probably worth 2 to 3 times the price and I can honestly say I rate the NT3 almost as highly. Remember, it is a 3/4" (not 1/2") capsule which I judge definitely makes a difference.

If I was starting out again and could only have one mic for sensible money, this would be it for all round quality and features, including portability and battery power. And if I couldn't afford the NT3, I'd buy the Rode M3, which I have also used and my son owns and uses on everything!

Using a Rode NT3 to record Choirs
Robert8105 30.07.2015
I bought this microphone (two as a pair) to supplement my Rode NT-1a (also a pair) as the latter couldn't quite cover the breadth of the Choir and Ensemble I was asked to record in a live performance. The two NT3's admirable supplemented my recording task and did not appear to clash with each other being a good combination that I recommend to get a clear and crisp recording much admired by those that heard the recorded performance.

I use it for live and in studio, on Classical guitar and it does a good job. Very responsive, good dynamic range, for the price.
I have used it to record percussion and it did a good job there, too. Thumbs up.
