Great quality microphone
Thomas8556 21.12.2016
This thing sounds extremely crisp! Even with the cheap Chinese valve in it! and for the price you can't get better. It sounds great on everything but really shines with female vocals. If you are thinking of buying this, i would recommend swapping out the Chinese tube to either a 12at7 or 12ax7, you wont regret it!

Pros:
Great sound
Great quality
The mogami cables it comes with are fantastic
Great shock mount
Well packaged
The hardcase is pretty darn good too!
Sturdy power supply unit
And it looks pretty too!

Cons: (if any)
The pins on the base of the mic for the cable feel quite brittle, so you'd want to be careful
The cheap Chinese valve doesn't sound amazing
No low end roll off switch or pad switch.

All in all i would definitely recommend this mic! Shines through most mixes with very little post processing needed.

Get this mic!

WOW! in one word. I was looking around for a new mic for vocals and found this beauty from MXL. For the price, I am absolutely amazed at the quality, construction, feel, and sound of this mic. It comes with high quality cables from Mogami, Power supply, shock mount, and wind screen. The Shock mount is a nice sturdy construction and gives you peace of mind knowing that your mic wont suddenly fall out. The mic itself (being a tube mic) naturally gets warm when in use and the best way to mount it is upside down to draw the heat away from the coil. so knowing that the mic wont suddenly fall out is a very nice thing! Overall fantastic purchase! Also comes with a very nice sturdy case to keep all the equipment safe!

MXL V69M review
KevinEST 23.08.2016
MXL V69M is very good large diaphragm tube microphone for my taste. It sounds good for pop and rock vocals. Also I use this from the guitar amps and overheads. Sometimes need heavy de-essing when you have sibilant vocals.

In the future, I would like to be sure to replace the tube. The current tube has a hum at 40Hz and will be problem in some places.

Also it has a cheap Chinese components. Be careful to not turn hard some components (microphone, shockmount etc).

Its price class, this is worthy of a microphone and does a great job!

Good mic that sounds more expensive than it is.
Anonymous 16.12.2015
Bought this mic because for a long time I wanted a valve mic, I use it on guitars, sometimes with amps and mainly for vocals.

It is a mic that preserves the low frequencies while having a little spike in the upper high frequencies, it may thicken high ranged vocalist but its upper frequencies is something to be aware of.

Pros: Non expensive valve mic, light, with travel bag that is very handy, sounds better than average cheap mics and comes with Mogami Cables.

Cons: Upper high range to be aware of because of Chinese capsule, the valve not being a NOS.

I will be sincere I'm in love with this mic, because its very cheap and sounds very very good, though for vocals I tend to record them almost 90 degrees off axis, I'm sure that if you end up modding it a little bit it will sound amazing for sure, when guaranty period runs out I'm going to change the capsule and the valve and I will update this review to share my experience,

In Resume: Good, light and nice mic that has an expensive sound for too little money, I would buy it again for sure.
