I needed a lightweight case to transport one of my cheaper dreadnoughts around the Streets of London coming up quite soon, because one of my normal hard cases would be just too heavy for this visit.
So I called Thomann and was put through to the Guitar department where Kostas told me about this Ortega OSOCADN-MO case in a Mocha -MO colour costing around £70 + £10 Shipping.
It was exactly what I needed, and then I found out that they are also available in Ocean Blue suffix -OC and Bordeaux Wine Red suffix -BX.
Thomann do not stock the -BX Bordeaux Wine Red colour one at this time. It looks brilliant so come on Thomann get them In.
Yeah, I know, why didn't Ortega use -OB and -BR instead. It would have made more sense.
There is 22mm foam padding with a 5mm plastic frame all around the sides. Inside is a moveable neck support which you can move and Velcro fix in place to your satisfaction.
I needed a case that would accommodate a Western style acoustic guitar, with wide squared off top shoulders similar to a Gibson Hummingbird or Dove, and this case does that.
The case looks brilliant with shoulder straps and a padded handle, but of course a hard case this is not. Also there are two zipper compartments on the front that will only accommodate something flat like a magazine or music manuscripts etc, but I am okay with that. I'll be carrying a small overnight bag with me anyway.
There is some space inside beneath the guitar neck and around the headstock area for bulkier items.
And of course it isn't waterproof as far as I know at this time. Time will tell on that.
But it looks great and is so lightweight.
Give it a try, that's what I say.
