I bought this board to replace an older PedalTrain which had had an unfortunate encounter with a family of mice!
The board is aluminium, which is light but very well put together. I very much doubt this is going to break under your feet, and it won't break your back carrying to a gig (although obviously most of the weight is in the pedals!).
Supplied velcro is enough to cover the entire board, and secures pedals pretty well, no need for any stronger fixings.
Gaps between the rails are useful for cable management and don't interfere too much with most pedals, although small things like aux switches can be inclined to fall in the gaps - for those I cut backing pieces and screwed them through the rails rather than using the velcro.
Unlike the older models the back (facing your audience) of the board is open, so you've got more choice when it comes to routing cables from the back or mounting power supplies. The older models had particular places you had to position the PSU to get the mains cable in, the new ones like this don't have this problem.
The soft case seems robust, although I've not done too many gigs with it yet. Reinforced corners and a reasonable amount of padding - it's no hard case, but as long as you're not expecting it to protect your pedal board from having a PA system stacked on it in your van it's plenty of protection.
