My journey to purchasing this mouthpiece began after I had viewed a couple of videos of Allen Vizzutti discussing how to choose a suitable mouthpiece and his own journey to Pickett brass. I'm a cross over/utility musician who enjoys playing all genres of music, including a good deal of big band and classical. I was playing the Yamaha 14A4A and !4C4 with a Yamaha 8310Z gen3 trumpet, for those respective music genres and pretty much content with the results, however I've always enjoyed investing in updated equipment. Having viewed Allen's journey to Pickett, I decided to purchase his Signature model, with the assurance that I would have no problem returning it, if it proved to be unsuitable or no different from the Yamahas. My friend had recently bought a trumpet from Thomann and returned it, without any hassle from them. The day the Pickett mouthpiece arrived, I also realised that I had left my 14A4 with my spare trumpet at work and had a big band concert the same evening. So, I had no option but to use it that evening on the concert. Over the three hours, I felt that the mouthpiece was more comfortable, required slightly less effort and my intonation was a little more consistent. So, three weeks on and I've not changed my mind - to the extent that I've ordered the Vizzutti models for C trumpet, flugelhorn and piccolo trumpet today direct from Pickett. They're not available through Thomann.
