Durable and well made soft case
John_McKenna 05.04.2018
This is the case I use for my Clareen Irish tenor banjo, it gets me the ~4 kilometers round trip into town a couple times a week by foot. My tenor weighs ~7 kilograms on it?s own, which kills my hands carrying it in a hard case by the handle, ergo the need for an option with backpack straps.

Protec cases in my experience are well made, and this is no exception. Heavy duty, water resistant nylon fabric which holds up well in the wind, cold, and rain. It?s been a little over half a year and there?s no sign of wear. The zippers are sturdy and run smoothly, and the shoulder straps themselves are comfortable and strong. My 19 fret tenor fits comfortably with a little room to spare past the headstock. There are three outside pockets for storage, two circular, and one boxy shaped.

The thick fabric protects from everyday bumps and scratches, it would take a big hit or fall to cause damage. Being able to use it in the rain without it getting soaked is a major plus. That said, there are some aspects of the design I find impractical. The biggest issue for me is the length of the shoulder straps, which are built into the case rather than the separate system they use on other instruments. I?m ~180cm, and at it?s shortest setting the case rests past the lower back on the butt, which I find uncomfortable. Also the metal strap adjusters continually slip exacerbating the problem. The main outside pockets are circular, leaving loads of space for storage, but functionally they?re not large enough to hold A4 sized sheet music or books (without folding them).

Over all I?m quite happy with the case, great value for the money.

Great!!

I've been touring with this case quite a lot and it's just perfect...after 1 year of heavy traveling in cars packed with lots of gear it's still as good as new. I used it mainly with a washborn B-12 with the resonator and it fits perfectly. The pads inside give a nice stability and protection to the instrument. the pockets are very handy (they even have the little pockets for pencils inside...lovely!!). Very comfortable on the back as well.

As expected

Quality is as expected at the price point, feels safe enough with the padding, and comfortable enough to wear around.

Have Banjo will travel. Its like something in the inferno. Dusk, hushed and summer-still and in the reddening light - the helicopter rose over the steaming lake and flew
into the west.
